Motivation edit

Many charities, organizations and people officially release addresses for cryptocurrency donations. In many cases this is not different from having a public donation balance, so we could safely link them as we do with e-mail addresses.

We already attach wallet addresses pages on blockchain explorers as references; as of today I am not aware of abuses. Ogoorcs (talk)

As with any other statement is always up to the user to check if the reported information adheres to the reference. It's enough for most real world usecases to provide a reference URL to the official organization reference as we would do. Allow changing statements using the property to autoconfirmed users or to single service bots is a valid option for me, too. Ogoorcs (talk) 21:06, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Weak support obviously will be subject to abuse, but I don't think anyone will donate money based on what they found on Wikidata. But I think we should first a have an IBAN (Euro bank accounts) property for organizations. Germartin1 (talk) 16:01, 9 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Support This property has additional usefulness outside of financial transactions, so I don't think it should be blocked on the addition of IBAN.
