Hi. I'm not interested in permissions, I just noticed some erroneous and perhaps even malicious abuse of link formatting and am just trying to correct it.
I put in a deletion request here, but it was recently "tidied up" without explanation:
See property: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P4947#P4947$acfa52cb-4af2-206b-0598-08d1205a4db3 -- "filmoria" is entirely unrelated to tmdb.
So I'm stumped. Not sure who to ask or direct to, just trying to help make Wikidata better. All the best.
- Hello Bobmighty2
- False. -akko has already replied : this is not the place she indicated to you for your request. Please follow the Help to get it right, as it is difficult to easily keep track of your edits. You even give the link to the reply.
- The next time, you have the option of doing this yourself: Wikidata is a participatory site. The changes have been made. Thank you in advance. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 09:25, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

I don't know if this is the right place to do so but I couldn't find a better one. I'm running a long one-time script to fetch data from Wikidata. It's long because the query is fairly slow (even after all conceivable optimisation—believe me, I tried) and I need to run it in batches over about 160k values, but I only need to do it once. The problem is that I appear to have been blocked: I left the script working overnight and I woke up to a connection aborted error; further attempts to send the script result in server errors even if I change the user-agent: I'm fairly sure that means I'm blocked, but I mean no harm and I need this for work, so could I please be granted an exception? The user-agent of my script contains my real name, so I would rather not share it publicly, but if need be, I can change it.
The information I get on error is:
Request from 2a01:c22:bc2a:2e00:f084:9e92:7d71:ba45 via cp3050 cp3050, Varnish XID 494896779 Error: 503, Backend fetch failed at Wed, 19 May 2021 07:45:12 GMT --2A01:C22:BC2A:2E00:F084:9E92:7D71:BA45 07:26, 19 May 2021 (UTC) 2A01:C22:BC2A:2E00:F084:9E92:7D71:BA45 07:26, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- Your IP is not blocked (otherwise it would not be possible to edit this page) and it is not possible to assign rights to IPs. Maybe you just reached the API limit? --Ameisenigel (talk) 09:22, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- As far as I know, the API limit is on a 60-second basis; several hours have passed since I first got the error and I'm still getting it now if I retry, so it must be some sort of block on Wikidata's side. Is there some additional information I can provide to pinpoint the issue? If you can't help, is there a better place I should have asked? I' m not sure who is responsible for technical matters or how to contact them. --2A01:C22:BC2A:2E00:F084:9E92:7D71:BA45 09:35, 19 May 2021 (UTC)

ArthurPSmith (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools) Can I get a permanent IP block exemption? When our cable internet service went out last Friday I had to connect over my mobile phone hotspot, but that meant I could not edit Wikidata due to an IP block on the wireless network. I've run into this before when traveling, but this was the first time I'd hit the problem from home. ArthurPSmith (talk) 13:01, 27 June 2021 (UTC)

This user comes from China mainland. Due to the GFW, he has to use a VPN to edit Wikipedia. He has GIPBE already but is still blocked from Wikidata. Therefore he can't add cross-wiki links for his new article in English, Japanese and Chinese language Wikipedia. A local IPBE in Wikidata may help him a lot. This user would like to add links to the new article they created on English Wikipedia. However, they could not edit Wikidata since they were affected by an IP block and needed to request others to do that for example requesting here. The user currently has IPBE on enwiki. A Wikidata local IPBE may help them do the thing. Thanks. Sun8908 💬 12:00, 11 July 2021 (UTC)

On Swedish Wikipedia I am allowed an exception that makes it possible for me to edit from blocked IP-addresses (called Undantagen från IP-blockering in Swedish, see the previous link for confirmation that I am on the exception list). I was previously granted the same exception on Wikidata, however that seems to no longer be the case. I tend to use my laptop from work sometimes, and my employer requires me to use a VPN-service then. This makes it impossible for me to edit Wikidata from my work computer. If possible, I would therefore ask that you once again grant me such permission. If possible permanently this time. Thank you! Cheers, LucieManette (talk) 14:19, 20 July 2021 (UTC)

I'm a WikiProject editor in Mainland China, I have to use VPN to access WikiProject, but most of the VPNs cannot edit WikiProject.
I've been the Chinese Wikipedia IP block exemption earlier. as now, I like to maintain the articles about my city.
In the mobile app of Wikipedia, there is an Article Description in any article, it's based on Wikidata. but in most VPNs, I can't edit it in China.
So, I request for IP block exemption now. ---OrekiDawson (talk) 04:40, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello! I'm Tol, and I run a bot, TolBot. I've filed a request for bot permissions at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/TolBot 7, where I was informed that test edits are allowed. However, I am running the bot on Google Cloud, which is under a global IP block. Could I please have IP block exempt on my bot account so that I can do some test edits? (I believe that local IPBE covers global and local IP blocks.) Thank you!

I would like to request permission due to my activist activities and my work.
For security reasons, we use the Tor network and some VPN's at all times (required by my work, and sometimes, by my hackeractivism), and because I use this all the time, it's very difficult and laborious to alternate in order to collaborate, on Wikidata.
I have previously collaborated here, and am returning with my work on wikidata. In the last few days, I've made several edits and created WikiProject Brazil dedicated to creating and improving Wikidata's coverage of related topics in my country.
I am a user who can be trusted, and I want to continue to collaborate, however, I need you to see my request so that I can facilitate my next collaborations here. Thank you very much for your attention, Kaiod (talk) 01:03, 27 July 2021 (UTC)
- @Kaiod: can you please clarify what you mean by "we use the Tor network" - is your account shared among multiple people? Also, you said "I have previously collaborated here, and am returning with my work on wikidata" - have you had any previous accounts? --DannyS712 (talk) 03:35, 6 August 2021 (UTC)
