I am a polyglot speaking 5-6 languages fluently. I understand what the translation extension is, how to use it, etc. I have translator rights on translatewiki.net and have translated over 100 things on meta. Addition to that, I have Rollback and Reviewer rights on the English Wikipedia and I consider myself a "trusted" user. I would be honored if I was granted this right and would use it with care. Thank you. --Akifumii (talk) 21:18, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

- What do you plan to do with these rights? Is there anything particular? Thanks in advance for your answer, Vogone (talk) 21:29, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Just a comment : I don't know for the translations elsewhere but to me, this or that (pick up ramdomly) looks like a machine translation to me rather than a « fr-N » (but as a fr-N myself I do some mistakes from time to time, errare humanum est). Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 21:44, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Strong oppose It does not seem like you know what this right does (and your existing rights do nothing to validate your request). You don't need this right to actually do translations. In addition to that, you have only ten edits here.--Jasper Deng (talk) 21:57, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Please give him a chance to answer my question first before making such assumptions. Thank you, Vogone (talk) 22:00, 18 May 2014 (UTC)
- Well, User:Akifumii has had an account on Wikimedia for less than a month, so I'm pretty sure he isn't qualified for this right. And I was commenting only on his stated rationale, nothing else.--Jasper Deng (talk) 22:22, 18 May 2014 (UTC)

- Thank you for your comments. I do think it may be better to apply for this within a few months. Akifumii (talk) 04:37, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
User:VIGNERON Although I am "fr-N" I my French is not so good. The reason for that is because I live in Canada and I am technically native to French but don't necessarily speak it at native level. I understand I don't need this to translate. I just wanted to "throw it out there" that I knew many languages. Sorry for a misunderstanding. Akifumii (talk) 04:55, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your explanation. You seem to have a good wiki-spirit but you're a bit too “fresh” ; come back in some months after more edits ;) Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 09:23, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
Not done It seems like 2 users below and the requesting user himself feel that a bit more wiki experience is needed before being granted this user right here on Wikidata. In any case, I appreciate Akifumii's willingness to help out with TA tasks and also his eagerness to learn about the extension (which can be seen at my talk page) and am looking forward to see this user around here more often :-)

I am back with my second request for translation adminship. I have translated Wikidata help texts through Special:LanguageStats and maybe some through Meta and translatewiki.net. I have read the documentation and understand it well. As a translation admin, I promise to use the right carefully and fulfill my duties to help Wikidata as best I can. --AkifumiiTalk 23:32, 20 June 2014 (UTC)

- I'm still not sure why you need this right. Is there any particular page or set of pages you'd like to do TA work on?--Jasper Deng (talk) 04:23, 21 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Jasper Deng, Vogone: Ok. I guess you can say that I don't "need" this right however, I do have a use for the tools and think I can help Wikidata. I would also like to add that I am a translation administrator on the Wikimedia Outreach wiki (verify) and have marked a few pages for translation there using <translate>. --AkifumiiTalk 01:09, 22 June 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose Why are you filing requests on multiple WMF wikis? (see m:Meta:Requests for translation adminship/Akifumii) This is very concerning. --Rschen7754 01:11, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Going back to m:Meta:Requests for translation adminship/Akifumii, the reason why I was declined was because of my persistence on the steward IRC and wanting to collect rights. Other than that I have a good use for the translation administrator tools and can help wikidata. I am now requesting the same rights on Wikidata trying to be more patient and less persistent. -AkifumiiTalk 04:21, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- But it was just closed yesterday... --Rschen7754 04:39, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Akifumii: I don't understand why getting declined on Meta and then immediately requesting it here too is not anything but being persistent. Also, please indent your replies to others' comments like Rschen7754 and I did here. Your next comment should be below mine with four *'s.--Jasper Deng (talk) 04:54, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Jasper Deng: My point is, on Meta I was declined for the wrong reason. I have the knowledge to become a translation administrator but I guess my "annoying" behavior was a large factor in my request. @Rschen7754: I think I have a better chance of becoming a translation administrator here and on Wikimedia Outreach. My reputation at this time doesn't precede me very well on Meta. Maybe in the next few months or so, I may request on Meta once again. --AkifumiiTalk 05:20, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Akifumii: The sad truth is that any reason cited by the community is deemed to be a valid reason, and you will have to address that for future requests. Also, your reputation follows you from other wikis as well. Why did you believe you had a better chance here than on Meta?--Jasper Deng (talk) 06:23, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

- Weak oppose Doing things like this is rather concerning. Pinging bureaucrats on their talk pages to look into your request for permissions is rather inappropriate. Please do not do this again. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 06:31, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. I didn't know that I would get a reply from you guys in the next few hours. --AkifumiiTalk 16:04, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- I undid my edit on Bene*'s talk page. --AkifumiiTalk 16:12, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hey, it doesn't matter that much that you pinged me on my talk page. However, I don't really understand why you asked a bureaucrat to comment while only one community member had voted yet. Bureaucrats can only approve what the community has already approved so there is no reason to involve a bureaucrat without having some more votes. -- Bene* talk 20:20, 24 June 2014 (UTC)
- I guess it is because he saw that there was no input on 23 June. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 01:26, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

I did over 3000 edits in the translations namespace, most of the translation to German is my work and I coined a number of technical terms for the German speaking community by finding suitable terms in German. Translating pages ist one of my main occupations on Wikidata. Occasionaly I fix some minor errors or add some examples or templates to the English pages. I fixed also sometimes the texts by adding or moving the <translate> tags on the English pages. However it is more safely to use the abilities of translation administrator to do this or to mark an updated Text for translation. Sometimes my German translation is improved or with additional explanations in comparrison to the the current English version to bring out the point more clearly, so it would be nice for me to improve the English version and mark it for translation immediately.--Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 19:40, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

I noticed, that there are some requests for translation on Special:PageTranslation nobody cared about for the last days. So I would like to help to keep this page/list up to date. As a translation admin on Commons I know how this extension works. Kind regards, --Brackenheim 09:59, 14 September 2014 (UTC)

I sometimes edit translateable page, like Wikidata:News, and I must request marking versions for translation at Wikidata:Translators' noticeboard. I think it's useful to get this right.--GZWDer (talk) 12:27, 19 September 2014 (UTC)
