P1120, P1339, P1561, P1345 edit

Wouldn't it be better to use number of deaths (P1120), number of injured (P1339) and number of survivors (P1561) instead of number of victims of killer (P1345)? Then we would additionaly know if the victims are dead, injured or suvervied. --Pasleim (talk) 08:38, 25 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Snipers and other warriors edit

What about them? Should we use P1345 or number of deaths (P1120)? Temporarily I am adding P1120. --Infovarius (talk) 23:12, 11 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I just used number of victims of killer (P1345) for an executioner (Johann Reichhart (Q65923)) and came here looking for better answers. The (English) label number of deaths (P1120) does seem to be a better fit. But structurally, the relation of an executioner/homepathic oncologist/fighter pilot to their subjects is much closer to that of a serial killer to their victims than that of an event.
Using one property for homicides both legal and illegal will also spare us the debates over the legality of these acts. That Nazi executioner, for example, killed more than 3,000 people and never stood trial. So he is innocent, officially. But, crucially, not in the way you or I are innocent. Splitting homicides across two properties would put us in the awkward situation of assessing such cases.
I would suggest labelling this property more broadly. Or, alternatively, maybe merging the two outright? --Matthias Winkelmann (talk) 15:31, 22 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
number of deaths (P1120) is used for events now, so I'd propose to broaden this property. --Infovarius (talk) 23:52, 23 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
