Broadening edit

Would it be helpful to broaden this property to "gender served" so that it could be applied e.g. to Girl Guides (Q6451898)? {{u|Sdkb}}talk 19:48, 5 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I see Bluerasberry, ArthurPSmith, and Yair rand made related points during the property proposal. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 00:35, 10 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
I support further conversation if anyone develops example cases. There are currently two words in the property, "gender educated". To broaden this we could explore changing "gender" to "demographic" and include other kinds of personal descriptions like "race", "religion", or anything else; or we could change "educated" to something like "served" to cover more situations than schools. Whatever the case, a change starts with some proposed examples, another round of discussion, and a review of other similar properties. I support the conversation but I am unsure what the outcome would be, just because these things take thought and conversation. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:24, 10 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Bluerasberry: I think it makes more sense to broaden "educated" to "served" than to broaden "gender" to "demographic"; I'm not sure I could say precisely why, but it seems neater. Where would the appropriate place to hold the discussion be? {{u|Sdkb}}talk 22:41, 11 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Sdkb: While I think there could be a "demographic served" property variant, it would be complicated to develop and too much to pack into this one. Changing this to "gender served" is a good move.
So far as I know there is no proposed best way to organize a Wikidata property amendment. I asked for guidance at Wikidata_talk:Property_proposal#Property_proposal_changes. Blue Rasberry (talk) 12:39, 12 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
