URL change edit

This identifier seems to be outdated. The site use now the name of the members and the ancients numbers aren't redirected to the new pages.

Salut @Simon Villeneuve. I noticed this issue a month ago and I immediately notified Union des artistes. I explained how the change in the URL format was breaking all incoming links from Wikidata. I offered guidance and even financial support to implement permalinks that would still be based on the opaque numeric identifier. I received a polite response indicating that they don't have the necessary resources to fix this issue. Fjjulien (talk) 00:53, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Simon Villeneuve I don't know what to do with this property and with all the data points that we populated. I mean, the numeric ID is no longer even accessible on front-facing « bottin » pages. Should we propose the deletion of the property? Fjjulien (talk) 00:55, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
No, we don't delete properties when web site change their structure. We'll adapt it. I asked advices to the village pump. Simon Villeneuve (talk) 13:15, 14 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
Accessing https://bottin.uda.ca/?term=109866 causes this:
"Sorry, you have been blocked. You are unable to access uda.ca. This website is using a security service to protect itself from online attacks. The action you just performed triggered the security solution. There are several actions that could trigger this block including submitting a certain word or phrase, a SQL command or malformed data."
And now even going to the home page gives the same "blocked" message. @Fjjulien maybe politely tell UDA that they hired some idiots as sysadmins.
@Simon Villeneuve If the old ID cannot be resolved to the new one, what do you think your appeal at the village pump can achieve? -- Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 13:27, 21 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Vladimir Alexiev: For me, the new URL is functionnal. I don't know why you have this "blocked" message. Maybe it come from some IP outside from Canada. I can do tests with VPN connection.. Simon Villeneuve (talk) 19:07, 21 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
My IP is 185.230.6.154. Why would UDA block access from outside Canada? Weird.
If the numeric ID resolves (in addition to the name-based ID) then we should keep both but mention that the numeric is deprecated. Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 08:44, 23 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
That was my idea, but others said that it's not the Way. Simon Villeneuve (talk) 10:16, 26 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I couldn't read that French discussion, but in multiple other cases the pattern has been: we keep the old prop but add note "(deprecated)" and we create a new prop for the new identifiers.
@Fjjulien could you also ask UDA to provide a dump with the correspondences so we can populate the new prop? -- Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 07:28, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I will, but only in due time. They don't like to be rushed and they asked for more time to explore solutions by which the numeric ID could still be resolvable. They didn't provide a timeline, and I'm afraid to ask because I ruffled a few feathers in my latest exchanges with them. Fjjulien (talk) 14:43, 5 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Simon Villeneuve @Vladimir Alexiev Please hold before doing further attempts to fix this issue. I heard back from UDA and they are exploring solutions to make their numeric IDs resolvable to the new URLs. It may however take them a while to settle on a solution and to implement it. In the meantime, I notified Quebec-based wikimedians not to edit their Union des artistes ID (P8840) statements. Fjjulien (talk) 18:42, 30 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
