MV Wakashio disaster (Q98138630) edit

Please reflect on the fact that the above item is for the oil spill. A discrete item, Wakashio (Q98114907) exists for the ship. Your recent edits appear to be identifying the oil spill item as the ship item; unhelpful - especially the aliases you added :( --Tagishsimon (talk) 22:38, 8 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ambassadors duplicates edit

Hello! You create a lot of duplicates. I understand the intention, but if you separate the list item and the ambassador position, you need to improve the instance of (P31) and reference each other on both items, otherwise they will be duplicated and confuse people. Here’s a query about duplicates: [1] I’ve fixed three now, but the rest was created by you too, it’s worth watching and fixing based on the query. I also recommend this: User:Metamorforme42/Ambassadors. Thanks, bye! Palotabarát (talk) 18:54, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Palotabarát: Oh, thank you very much for detecting these duplications. Before the end of the week, it will be fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for the useful link! Best regards, KajenCAT (talk) 19:31, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Palotabarát: I think I didn't get exactly what to do, for example, I merged list of ambassadors of China to Mozambique (Q15930443). Should I keep one item for list of ambassadors and other for position? Or merge them? Thanks, --KajenCAT (talk) 15:33, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello KajenCAT! There are four types
1; the name of the position (e.g.: ambassador of Hungary to Poland (Q62128047))
2; list of incumbents (e.g.: list of ambassadors of Hungary to Poland (Q67207206))
3; category of incumbents (e.g.: Category:Ambassadors of Hungary to Poland (Q15309466))
4; element of the embassy (e.g.: Embassy of Hungary, Warsaw (Q16494353))
Two are regularly confused: the position and the list item (1; and 2;). If a list item exists, you must create a separate item.
The item of the position is the ambassador to X (ambassador to Poland (Q28071176)) and the ambassador of Y (ambassador of Hungary (Q30161250)) is the list item class (instance of (P31)) only for the list item (Wikimedia list article (Q13406463)).
These two should ([2] and [3]) not have been merged now, but the class should have been improved. Palotabarát (talk) 16:03, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

@Palotabarát:If I have understood correctly, the only change I should have made is to remove «ambassador of China» and «ambassador to Mozambique» of Wikimedia list article list of ambassadors of China to Mozambique (Q15930443), right? To avoid further confusion, this type of items should not say List of ambassadors of China to Mozambique like the english article linked? --KajenCAT (talk) 16:13, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, that would have been a good solution. But it should also be noted that if the "Description" of one item includes a list item definition (Wikimedia list article) in more than one language, it should preferably remain that list item and the job item should be created as a new one. You also need to look at whether it is pasted into the position property (position held (P39)), because if so, make sure that it is not the list item that stays in the position, but the position's article. You may need to replace the pastes, or vice versa: it is better to regroup the different Wikipedia list items into a new item. Palotabarát (talk) 17:00, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Palotabarát: Done, I think! Regards, --KajenCAT (talk) 18:02, 15 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Was that intentional: ambassador of Angola to Cape Verde (Q106210280) (03.26) and ambassador of Angola to Cape Verde (Q106301456) (03.31)? 21:02, 20 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Palotabarát:, I don't understand what are you referring about. Both are the same item. --KajenCAT (talk) 22:17, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
Yes, I messed it up, I'm sorry. This is correct: ambassador of Angola to Cape Verde (Q106301456). Palotabarát (talk) 23:35, 21 June 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Palotabarát: It was a mistake, I've merged it. Thanks for spotting it and letting me know! --KajenCAT (talk) 14:41, 22 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Cities/towns in Estonia edit

Hi. In Estonia there are exactly 47 settlements of type city (Q11881845), but only 41 can be queried (search link) after your edits like Special:Diff/1423453852. Note that class Q11881845 is already set as a subclass of more generic class city or town (Q7930989).

Estonian "linn" is translated into English as either "city" or "town", but I now realise that "city" may be more clear per official translation of law text that uses "town" instead for alev (Q50809253). I'm going to change English label for Q11881845 accordingly. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:B9D7:6891:205B:A296 07:51, 19 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

@2001:7D0:81F7:B580:B9D7:6891:205B:A296: Thank you for your message. I reverted my edits. I thought it was village (Q532) --KajenCAT (talk) 08:49, 19 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Correction request edit

Hello.

In the Wikidata page of "2021 Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption" (Q108601121), can you correct the end date of the volcanic eruption to 13 December 2021, the day it actually ended? The ending was officially confirmed after a waiting period of 12 days. 25 December is not the actual end date of the eruption. The wrong date contradicts the source which was added alongside it: https://www.ccma.cat/324/el-volca-de-la-palma-ja-dorm-el-rastre-de-98-dies-derupcio-del-cumbre-vieja/noticia/3137091/

Yours sincerely, 31.200.12.211 20:30, 28 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hi, anonymous,
can you give me any Wikidata's rule regarding that? Theoretically, the finalisation date should be the official one KajenCAT (talk) 10:49, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
Hello. The volcanic eruption itself lasted for 85 days, not 97 days. The authorities confirmed after a twelve day waiting period which happened to be on 25 December, that the eruption indeed ended on 13 December, and not on the actual day of their announcement. Can you correct the date please? 31.200.21.49 11:04, 29 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Item duplication function edit

Hallo KajenCAT,

I noticed here that you managed to duplicate a Wikidata item. This is indeed very useful for a new edition of a recurring tournament.

I would like to be able to do duplication too, but I cannot find that function in my menu. How did you do that?

Kind regards, Pommée (talk) 21:14, 10 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hola, @Pommée:,
yeah, it's a gadget! You can activate it here (in Duplicate Item).
I hope you find it useful
Regards, KajenCAT (talk) 21:53, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Also I recommend you other gadget called "Move". It's for move statements of one item to other one. KajenCAT (talk) 21:57, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for helping me out! I activated the duplication tool as instructed, and I will try it out as soon as the need arises. The move tool was already installed with me; I guess I discovered that one some time ago. Regards, Pommée (talk) 22:20, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Your reverts on Q18149274 and Q116995799 edit

[4], [5] Alright, let's start by saying that Wikidata ≠ Wikipedia. These are completely different projects. For video games we are using P155/P156 as qualifers for the main value which is part of the series (P179) property. We are not using them as main values (example). You can see it also from this query. If you want to use P155/P156 on your Wikipedia then please solve this locally via {{Infotaula de programari}} template instead of removing perfectly valid statements here on Wikidata. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 16:55, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Kirilloparma:, please could you show me where says that for video games we are using P155/P156 as qualifers for the main value which is part of the series (P179) property? To avoid these confusions in future, because for me, you removed totally valid statements. Thank you, KajenCAT (talk) 18:36, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
On the contrary, it was you who reverted my perfectly valid edits (see Special:Diff/1852102118 and Special:Diff/1852101657). You must not move P155/P156 to the main values. Here is a SPARQL query for video game items (and their subclasses) using P179 along with P155/P156 qualifiers.
#title:This is how P155/P156 are used for video game items
SELECT DISTINCT ?item ?itemLabel ?follows ?followsLabel ?followed_by ?followed_byLabel ?statement WHERE {
  ?item wdt:P31/wdt:P279* wd:Q7889.
  ?item p:P179 ?statement.
  OPTIONAL { ?statement pq:P155 ?follows. }
  OPTIONAL { ?statement pq:P156 ?followed_by. }
  SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "[AUTO_LANGUAGE],en". }
} ORDER BY (UCASE(STR(?itemLabel)))
Run it!
By the way, I noticed that {{Infotaula de programari}} template uses qualifiers for some main Wikidata properties. So what is the problem here, when you can easily use P155/P156 as qualifiers in that template too, I don't understand at all. Example:
<!------ CAPTURA DE PANTALLA ----->
| image2     = {{#if:{{{collapsible|}}}|{{hidden begin|title=Captura de pantalla|titlestyle=text-align:center}}}}
               {{#if:{{{captura|{{{imatge|}}} }}}
                | {{#invoke:InfoboxImage|InfoboxImage|image={{{captura|{{{imatge|}}} }}}|size=300x300px }}
                | {{#invoke:wikidades | claim  | formatting=table
                     | property=P18 | qualifier=P2096
                     | rowformat = [[Fitxer:$0|300x300px]] $1 | rowsubformat1=</br>{{mida|$1}}
                     | list=false
                  }} <hr/>
               }}

Salutacions, KajenCAT (talk) 08:25, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Bon dia KajenCAT, sí, esa es la idea. Ahora hago "limpieza" para que todo esté igual, y después voy creando todos los elementos restantes, como alcaldes, ayuntamientos, casas consistoriales, municipios, etc. Gracias y buen día. --Vanbasten 23 (talk) 08:50, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Vanbasten 23:, perfecte! Si necessitessis ajuda en això, em comentes! Salutacions, KajenCAT (talk) 08:52, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
