Event ends on 19 August 2018 23:59 o'clock

Kndly note, this label-a-thon ends on 19 August 2018 (Sunday) 23:59 o'clock. We would be delighted to see great contribution in the next 36 hours. We together can make this event a bigger success.

Ethnologue codes with no page edit

Hi! I've seen you have added all Ethnologue.com language code (P1627) codes two months ago and I wanted to thank you. However, I've noticed a problem: a lot of codes you added, especially for dead languages (e.g. Bactrian (Q756651) = https://www.ethnologue.com/language/xbc, Punic (Q535958) = https://www.ethnologue.com/language/xpu, Messapian (Q36383) = https://www.ethnologue.com/language/cms, Dalmatian (Q35527) = https://www.ethnologue.com/language/dlm), link to no page, so should be removed. Do you have any method to discover automatically which codes link to existent pages and which codes not? Thank you again, --Epìdosis 16:38, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for notifying. I don't know of any process by which non-existent links could be removed automatically. Which means I will have to remove them manually. If the problem is related to dead/extinct languages only, it would be easier. But if the problem is with other type languages too, then that's a problem. @Mahir256:, could you be of any help? য় [t̪ɔnɔj] (আ/T) 16:48, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
On second thought, I think comparing the ISO 639-3 and Ethnologue code tables might make the work a little bit easier. I will look into it. Mahir, you are still on board for cleaning up the mess I made. :) য় [t̪ɔnɔj] (আ/T) 16:53, 1 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
I would regret having you check hundreds of items in order to discover "false" links: we should first try automatic solutions. I can ask a user I know about it, there is no hurry.
@Horcrux: There is a problem, as you can see: there many "false" Ethnologue.com language code (P1627). Could you detect and remove them using a bot? By the way, it would also be interesting, if possible, to import Ethnologue language status (P3823). Grazie mille in ogni caso, --Epìdosis 10:01, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: The bot should just remove links where the site reports "Ethnologue has no page for XXX", isn't it?
For the second task, if you give me more details, I'll make a specific request for permissions. --Horcrux (talk) 10:29, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Horcrux: Yes, the bot should just remove "false" IDs where "Ethnologue has no page for XXX". For the second task, the import regards the part "Language Status" (e.g. https://www.ethnologue.com/language/ita >> Italian (Q652)Ethnologue language status (P3823)1 National (Q29051546)). Obviously the first task is more urgent (and easier). Grazie ancora, --Epìdosis 10:35, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Horcrux: First task has been completed, hasn't it? Ottimo lavoro! --Epìdosis 15:33, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: Not yet, I was just lacking Internet connection! The job should be completed within 1 hour. --Horcrux (talk) 15:45, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: Done, I removed 269 ids over (about) 7.500. --Horcrux (talk) 16:54, 2 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: Waiting for the task to be accepted, I am ready to add property:P3823 via bot. Anyway, I was wondering if in "6a* (Vigorous)" (example) the asterisk had some relevant meaning for this task. Do any of you know if it does? --Horcrux (talk) 10:26, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Horcrux: From this table the answer seems to be "no". --Epìdosis 10:29, 3 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Epìdosis: Finished, but this problem arose. --Horcrux (talk) 12:34, 10 May 2019 (UTC)Reply
