- If they are the same, they could be merged; there are identifiers. The GNS Unique Feature ID for Großer Speikkofel (Q21873068) is for a mountain and only has an unverified name; another ID has a name that matches Großer Speikkofel (Q21878939) which says it's a peak and is also called Großspeikkofel. - Sorry, do not understand. Should we really keep all the trash unverified, not existing and spelling error? Imported by some bots without any knowledge? is also called Großspeikkofel - your also is not suitable, as the object in question is called Gorssspeikkofel. There is no such name as Gorssspeikkofel in Geonames Austria. Visit http://amap.at to verify. What is the sense in keeping? External references? Some metrics the WMF / WD-Team is fond of? There are already two Geonames Ids, when merging also Großer Speikkofel (Q21873068), we will have three. Who will merge the entries on Geonames? I'm trying hard to work after the Ljsbot generated fake objects in Austria, I'm not willing to fight also against WD-principles without reason.
- Instead of further propagating the wrong name through the internet, can somebody request the deletion of that unverified name in the GNS database? Google already lists about 500 matches for the non-existing Gorssspeikkofel - maps, weather aso. - "Gorssspeikkofel" can be found in Geonames and GNS; if it can be identified as something we have an item for, a search here should return information about it. The incorrect name can be moved to the "named as" qualifier for these identifiers. It also makes it easier for people who maintain other databases (or users of data from those databases) to find where they have multiple items for the same thing and correct any errors.
