Hello, i am Markus. I am mostly adding aliases to Wikidata items, and i sometimes create new, or merge existing items. When spotting vandalism, i undo it.
The reason for asking administrator permissions is that I frequently stumble on (the same) Wikidata item for which i want to add an alias, only to realize i have been there before and the page is fully protected. That page is protected for a good reason as it is a current event and prone to vandalism.

edit- Oppose Mbch331 (talk) 15:51, 28 February 2022 (UTC) - Requesting Admin privileges to add aliases/labels to fully protected pages is in my view not a good reason to get those rights[reply]

- Huh, i don't understand. I have thousands of wikidata edits over the last two years. Ikkingjinnammebetinke (talk) 16:03, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- When we say "Wikidata namespace", we are talking about pages prefixed with "Wikidata:" - for example, this page. Prahlad (tell me all about it / private venue) (Please

- Oppose Fully agree, feel free to use edit requests for the six fully protected items here. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 15:57, 28 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

- Support is a valid need, as we lack admins handling protected edit requests. --- Jura 09:50, 1 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

- I don't object to any rationale for adminship that would require access to admin tools, even just the ability to edit protected pages. But given how expansive the toolset is, I would like to see more experience broadly across Wikidata and in admin areas before supporting. -- Ajraddatz (talk) 06:20, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- How could we address the underlying problem? Maybe an approach would be to ask the admins opposing adminship for this reason to do the protected edit requests. --- Jura 13:41, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- I think most of the requests in Category:Wikidata protected edit requests are for pages that aren't fully protected (in fact many are totally unprotected pages). BrokenSegue (talk) 23:09, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
- Anything in MediaWiki talk namespace should be obviously be one.
- As the discussion here is about edit requests for fully protected pages, you are saying that admins don't deal with them as they can't find them? Maybe we need a separate category then. --- Jura 08:20, 3 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

- Consolation support -- of course requesting the adminship just for editing the protected pages is not the reason enough. --Wolverène (talk) 06:53, 2 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
