I request IP block exemption as I have recently been frequently traveling and am running into occasional IP blocks. I have no history of vandalism or disruption on Wikidata. Also, I'm an admin on EN Wikipedia so have enabled two-factor authentication on my account to better secure it. Chetsford (talk) 05:59, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

I request unblock of the open proxy 51.158.128.0/17 for me and So9qBatch because I use it to protect my privacy. I have no history of vandalism and 10 years of constructive edits in various wikis. Thanks in advance.--So9q (talk) 23:55, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi So9q,
Following my layout above (your IP) and that of Pamputt, Hakan specifies that a request must be made in due form to the Stewards. The blockage is global and due to multiple vandalism by a stew. This unblock request is made on this page. Small clarification: it is an "unblocking" (open-proxy = IP) and not an "unlocking", so plan precisely the request (IP or range) to leave aside the vandals. Otherwise, it is to exempt users on IP blocked here for So9q and So9qBatch in WD, enwikt, etc. Cordially. —Eihel (talk) 14:29, 13 January 2020 (UTC)- This is a global block, thanks for directing me to the right place. If this global block exemption link link would appear together with the block message it would have been much easier to find. --So9q (talk) 15:28, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- @So9q: The message is noted in the preamble to this section: Note: only local exemptions should be requested here. For global blocks see here
and "together with the block message": (Open proxy: This IP range has been abused for vandalism. If you are affected by this block, please contact stewards) —Eihel (talk) 16:01, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

- This is all very confusing to me 🙄. The stewards now explained that they can do nothing to help me. The local wiki has to add me to the "ipblock-exempt" group for me to be able to edit. Can you please do that?--07:10, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

- If you request a global exemption (you can edit behind your proxy on any wiki), you have to ask on Meta (see my request for example). If you request to be unblock only on Wikidata, so you have to ask here. Pamputt (talk) 11:03, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- @So9q: As said above, if you get an IP block exemption for Wikidata, it won't work on other wikis. You may request a global IP block exempt to solve that. You seem to edit on various wikis, so this would be useful for you. Will you proceed to that or just the want flag here? Esteban16 (talk) 19:55, 30 January 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks @pamputt:, you explained something the stewards or the blocking message failed to explain. I made a global request instead. We can archive this discussion.--So9q (talk) 16:59, 1 February 2020 (UTC)

Wikidata:IP block exemption brought me here, my apologies if I'm not following the correct procedure. I use a VPN service on and off for a variety of reasons and would like to be able to edit Wikidata when I am connected through VPN. I have an IP exemption on the Dutch Wikipedia and the English Wikipedia. My block logs on all Wikipedias and other projects are all empty. Maartenschrijft (talk) 20:33, 5 July 2020 (UTC)

I'm facing problem while using Wikidata, due to the recent floods, as the network connectivity is damaged and work to retrieve is going on. so I have to access the Wikidata through local cyber cafe or using the VPN. Due to the pandemic cyber cafe are not allowing to surf, And using the VPN it's says blocked. So I would like to request for Wikidata:IP block exemption. Thanks C1K98V (talk) 06:32, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Comment You have requested this right locally for several wikis. It would be more practical to make a global request. —Eihel (talk) 09:04, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Comment @Eihel: Thanks for your suggestion. Yes I have IP exemption on other wikis. I have global IP exemption, but still I'm facing issues. That's why I'm requesting for this rights locally on wikidata. Thanks C1K98V (talk) 09:31, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- It is weird. With "global-ipblock-exempt", you should be able to edit on Wikidata without any issue. Giving you this right here will probably not solve your issue. Pamputt (talk) 11:49, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- Hello @Pamputt: yeah I agree to what you trying to convey. But I'm facing trouble that why I'm asking for IP exemption rights. It would be a great help. Thanks C1K98V (talk) 13:33, 5 August 2020 (UTC)

- @Pamputt, Eihel: Global IP block exemption (m:GIPBE) does not help with local blocks. It only help with m:global blocks. If same IP is blocked locally (likely as they said they are using vpn) then they need local IPBE.
- But @C1K98V: if you are able to make this request, I don't think there's any issues or are you editing with VPN turned off now? ‐‐1997kB (talk) 13:54, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
- I just didn't pay attention to GIPBE. As it is, it can edit on WD, simply. Is he not trying to do an action where he doesn't have the required right? If he could tell us where the problem is, it would be easier anyway. —Eihel (talk) 14:14, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
::If GIPBE: his account is not blocked on all WM wikis; imho that's the only interest, even if an entire IPv4/16 or IPv6/64 range is blocked, 1997kB. If there is really a blockage, it is locally, on his device or his connection, that there is a block. —Eihel (talk) 14:41, 5 August 2020 (UTC)
personal life and professional works. I know I'm not blocked on any Wikimedia wikis. I'm facing the problem that why I'm seeking help from the community. Thanks C1K98V (talk) 02:36, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- Done @C1K98V: You can now contribute behind a VPN here. Pamputt (talk) 13:56, 8 August 2020 (UTC)

I hope that I write this request in the right place. If not, I would be thankful if someone could point me in the right direction. On Swedish Wikipedia I am allowed an exception that makes it possible for me to edit from blocked IP-addresses (called Undantagen från IP-blockering in Swedish, see the previous link for confirmation that I am on the exception list). I tend to use my laptop from work sometimes, and my employer requires me to use a VPN-service then. This makes it impossible for me to edit Wikidata from my work computer. I would, therefore, like to have the sort of exception here, as I have on Swedish Wikipedia. If possible that is. Thank you! / LucieManette (talk) 16:35, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

- Thank you DannyS712! I'm curious, why is it limited to six months? / LucieManette (talk) 18:59, 26 August 2020 (UTC)
- You aren't a very established user here, and so I was hesitant to grant indefinitely. I figured if you still needed this in 6 months you could come back re-request. --DannyS712 (talk) 19:03, 26 August 2020 (UTC)

I use a VPN for a variety of reasons, the main one being that I often edit from cafes and end up having to use unsecured or potentially vulnerable public wifi networks. I primarily edit en.wiki, here, and commons. I have a local IP exemption block on en.wiki and have realized that I should also request one for wikidata and commons so that I'm not prevented from editing those two projects while working on en.wiki. Thanks for your consideration. Joeyconnick (talk) 17:52, 3 October 2020 (UTC)
- Done for the same duration as your English Wikipedia exemption.--Jasper Deng (talk) 23:18, 3 October 2020 (UTC)

I am bnwiki sysop & checkuser. Since user:MustafaKamal is unable to edit wikidata, on behalf of MustafaKamal i am requesting this for him. He use open proxy which was blocked (not intended for him). He has good contribution on bnwiki & wikidata. I already grant him IPBE on bnwiki. আফতাবুজ্জামান (talk) 05:07, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
