- Changes to the names of the descendants of James Drummond Buller-Fullerton-Elphinstone. It is certain that their surname was not Buller-Fullerton-Elphinstone; probably it was Elphinstone. I've put a long discussion on the talk page, where I try to reconcile sometimes conflicting evidence -- and please check out the sources there, because you may disagree with me; here's a summary of what names I ultimately went with in my Wikidata edits, if different from "The Peerage." - I changed my mind about the spelling of the middle name of James Andrew Colvile Wedderburn-Maxwell. Either Colvile or Colville is form in use, and not a typo. The Wedderburn Book says "Colville" but the gravestone says Colvile; other sources, less authoritative, are about equally divided between the two.Levana Taylor (talk) 03:55, 24 May 2020 (UTC)
- Charlotte Jane Willis Fleming's name is actually just Charlotte Jane Fleming, so stated in Burke's, the Gentleman's Magazine, County Families, etc. etc. As for her father's name, see here -- the short version is that an Act of Parliament changed his name from Willis to Fleming 7 July 1813, the new name supposed to be "exclusive of [his] own surname," and although that page says "his descendants used a hyphenated version of the name" not a single contemporary source that I've seen reports Charlotte as doing so. On the other hand, her brother John Brown was constantly referred to as John Brown Willis-Fleming during his lifetime, though his legal surname stated in Fleming's Estate Act 1877 was Fleming. - Surname corrections. When William Barton Powlett Wallop (142540) became the legatee of the trust of William Powlett Powlett, the surname Powlett was added to the name of the members of his family in a variety of different ways. He himself took the surname Wallop-William-Powlett, but his wife, Ellen (or Ellinor) Fleming (142541), was Mrs. Powlett. His children had Wallop as a middle name. His son (142545) used the surname William-Powlett, so Barton Newton Wallop William-Powlett; his daughters just Powlett: Camilla Henrietta Maria Wallop Powlett (142546), Dorothea Ellinor Mary Wallop Powlett (142547), Katherine Gertrude Wallop Powlett (142548), Rose Maria Wallop Powlett (142549). On the other hand, Barton Newton's wife, Emily Charlotte Tyndall Reibey (333958), was Mrs. William-Powlett and all of his children and their descendants also used the name William-Powlett. - [80] "Maria Aurora Gräfin Rutowski". The bio corresponds to that of Maria Anna Katharina Rutowska (Q5140282). But the name "Maria Aurora" seems to come from her mother Maria Aurora von Spiegel (Q4979826), in TP as "Fatima (?)" -- Jheald (talk) 21:02, 19 August 2020 (UTC)

- William Brodie Gurney (Q8005966) : "William Barrow Gurney" (TP 1) is incorrect. The name should be "William Brodie Gurney" as per TP 2 (with which TP 1 should be merged). See eg FamilySearch LBH5-ZQV and MPRB-3DQ for father and daughter respectively, with its extensive references for christenings and censuses; and in particular the LDS index extract [96] for Maria's marriage with Kingsbury. Jheald (talk) 11:23, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
- Digby Dent (Q5488127) TP calls him "Commodore Digby West" with a citation to Burke's Peerage 64e (1902), which may or may not be available online. However according to the 1914 edition, p. 650 s.v. FULLER-ELIOTT-DRAKE, "Sophia, m. 1st, Commodore Digby Dent; and 2ndly, . Sir George Pocock, K.B., and bad issue", which also corresponds to the ODNB entry for Pocock [97] "he married Sophia Pitt Dent (d. 1767), daughter of George Francis Drake, granddaughter of Sir Francis Drake, bt, and widow of his friend, Commodore Digby Dent". Jheald (talk) 13:34, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- William Lygon (Q75439487) TP 1 names the first husband of Margaret Cocks as "John Lygon". But more likely the name of her husband was "William Lygon", as per TP 2. The two entries for Margaret (TP 3 and TP 4) should also be merged. See note now added to wiki article on her second husband for discussion. "John" is given by multiple tertiary sources in their entries for the 1st Earl of Hardwicke. But the sources for "William" give a marriage date, death date, and connecting narrative; and are drawn from papers and letters still extant in the records at Madresfield Court, with no mention of a John in this generation. - Charles John Shore, 3rd Baron Teignmouth (Q76017338) (1840-1915) : TP calls him "Frederick William John Shore, 3rd Baron Teignmouth" (and Geni.com copies TP); but this was the name of Frederick William J. Shore (Q105683494) (1844-1916), his younger brother, who succeeded him. Jheald (talk) 11:48, 28 December 2021 (UTC)

- Rozala of Italy (Q466257) (c. 950–1003), father should be Berengar II of Italy (Q314521) (c. 900-966), not Berengar I of Italy (Q274606) (842-927)
- Matthieu I of Montmorency (Q351474) should be son (not father) of Bouchard III (Q894964), and Bouchard V de Montmorency (Q894965) is son (not grandson) of Matthieu I of Montmorency (Q351474)
- Alice de Meschines (Q61808380) should be daughter (not sister) of Ranulf le Meschin, 3rd Earl of Chester (Q717030)
- Sophie von Sommerschenburg (Q75245920) is not wife of Hermann I (Q61776) (correct wife is Sophia of Wittelsbach (Q3503161)) and his children's mother is wrong.
- Louis III de La Trémoille (Q2049479): Anne de Montmorency (Q356952) and Madeleine of Savoy (Q44847358) are not his parents, but his parent-in-laws.
- Mary of Chatillon (Q3292886), father should be Guy I, Count of Blois (Q723663), not (uncle of Guy I) Guy IV, Count of Saint-Pol (Q348322)
- Elisabeth de Bar (Q24970029), parents incorrect

- Krum (Q192104) is not brother of Dukum, King of Bulgaria (Q75451175) and Ditseng, King of Bulgaria (Q75451176). Maybe it's a fake made by Cäğfär Taríxı (Q854634) - in book by John E. Morby (Q94263449) there is only a listing of rulers, but there is no evidence that Krum was a grandson of the Sevar of Bulgaria (Q379368) Carn (talk) 12:58, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- Margaret, Countess of Tyrol (Q236290)
- Amlaíb Cuarán (Q259114) (#102940) - incorrect wife. His issues may be son of Dúnlaith or Gormflaith.
- Malcolm Macheth, Earl of Ross (Q19325964) - this Earl of Ross and son of Alexander I are likely two people.
- Rhodri ab Owain Gwynedd (Q1062522) - his wife was unknown; Gwenllian verch Rhys (daughter of Rhys ap Gruffudd) was instead wife of Ednyfed Fychan (Q2745179) (whose wife was not daughter of Rhys ap Tewdwr).
- René of Anjou (Q170353) (#162246)
- http://www.thepeerage.com/p37061.htm#i370605 John Edward Arthur Willis Fleming was not the son of Laura Brandon, John Brown Willis Fleming's 2nd wife, but of his 3rd wife, Ida Mary Sheldon Weston. See Burke's Landed Gentry.
- George H[enry] M[axwell] Batten of the Bengal Civil Service was not the father of Katherine Jane Batten, but her brother; their father, likewise in the Bengal civil service, was George Maxwell Batten (7 Apr 1808 - 21 Jul 1834). And here are some missing connections between people on the Peerage site:
- GMB's father (GHMB's and Katherine's grandfather) was J[oseph] H[allet] Batten.
- There was also a third child in the family, Amelia Frances Sophia Batten (12 Dec 1830 - 20 Feb 1910). She married Graham Egerton Huddleston and was the mother of Willoughby Baynes Huddleston. This means that Willoughby's wife Mary Lawrence Strachey, daughter of Katherine, was his first cousin.
- GMB's wife (married 27 Oct 1829), mother of GHMB, Katherine, and Amelia, was Amelia Frances Chicheley Plowden (27 Oct 1811 - 9 Jan 1864), sister of Henrietta Isabella Philippa Chichele Plowden. [See "Names" section above.] After GMB's death, she married (5 Mar 1835) General Sir John Cheape; he divorced her by act of Parliament in 1844. Her third husband (12 Nov 1844) was General Sir Charles John Foster, K.C.B.
- [158] [159] are duplicates with same mother [160] [161] but different father. [162] is most likely father since it's a genealogy site made by a relative. ミラP 18:25, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

- John Bankes (Q75243594) (died 1714) is Henry Bankes (Q15989822) (born 1757)'s grandfather, not father.
- Walter Blount (Q7964324): mother should be Iseult Mountjoy.
- Jael Boscawen (Q41333623): Even if parish record (ark:/61903/1:1:JS1L-FPJ) said so, there's no other evidence that her mother is Eleanor. See [164]
- Elizabeth Barbara St. John (Q76157286): daughter (not granddaughter) of John St John.
- Paulina Pepys (Q75495083): her brother married Elizabeth Bendish, so she is son of John Pepys (the elder) and Edith Talbot.
- Catherine Gibbon (Q76326979): mother-in-law of Edward Craggs-Eliot is paternal aunt (not maternal aunt) of Edward Gibbon (Q161841) and daughter of Edward Gibbon (Q41539809).
- Jane Neville (Q75387635): daughter of George Neville and Joan FitzAlan; granddaughter of George Neville and Margaret Fenne
- John Paston (Q75258785): son of William Paston (Q21293346) and Bridget Heydon
- Sir John Borlase Warren, 1st Baronet (Q1750346): grandson (not son) of Borlase Warren and Anne Harper
- Elizabeth Killigrew (Q75420524): this Elizabeth is William's daughter.
- Ellen Willis Fleming (142541), named as the daughter of John Willis Fleming (1781-1844), is actually his granddaughter, child of his son John Brown Willis Fleming (256938) by John Brown's first wife Lady Katherine Cochrane. Levana Taylor (talk) 12:12, 11 June 2020 (UTC)
- [165] [166]: While there was a Peter Mews who was a Bishop of Winchester and a Peter Mews who was MP for Christ Church, [167] says that the latter's father was not the bishop but a "Col. - Alfred Henry Gosling 250733 was the son of Robert Gosling (1831-1895), for whom see the Duplicate Entries section, and of Eleanor Spencer Smith 581222.
- Archibald Kennedy, 11th Earl of Cassilis (Q4786384): In The Peerage he is listed as the son of unknown Massam (Q75240284) but many sources appear to note his mother is actually Maria Walter (Kennedy) (Q75267484). I have no idea which source is correct. Gamaliel (talk) 19:45, 9 July 2020 (UTC)
- Susannah Cochrane (Q76204429) - the father is John Cochrane (Q75630036)
- Jane Champernowne (Q76143229) / Joan Champernowne (Q6204937)
(likely the same person): ODNB says mother was Catherine Carew (Q96075116) [168] not Margaret Courtenay (Q76260435). Margaret may have been Jane and Joan's grandmother, cf WikiTree [169]. Jheald (talk) 07:31, 13 August 2020 (UTC) - Sir Jonathan Cope, 1st Baronet (Q7528172) and Anthony Cope (Q75813790) : father should be Jonathan Cope (Q28527357) not Jonathan Cope (Q75813467) (generation skipped). -- Jheald (talk) 16:55, 14 August 2020 (UTC)
- Ann Southwick (Q75578012) and John Southwick (Q75578061): John Southwick is not father. Ann/Hannah (no known last name) married first Thomas Flint, and 2nd John Southwick. Her will is as Ann Southwick and refers to her Flint a children. She is prob unrelated to John Southwick referred to in The Register's of Thorrington.
- Christian Louis de Massy (Q4027396) and Elisabeth-Ann de Massy (Q670430): father should be Alexandre-Athenase Noghès (Q642602) not Jean-Charles Rey (Q2408991) -- Jheald (talk) 07:14, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- Isabelle Frith (Q75455020): parents should be William Powell Frith (Q955750) and Isabella Jane Baker (Q96087108), not Thomas Frith (Q75533062) and Jane Powell (Q76245803) who were her grandparents (cf WikiTree) -- Jheald (talk) 09:24, 16 August 2020 (UTC)
- Marie de Hauteville (Q3292900) (TP): parents should be Richard of Salerno (Q630794) (TP) and Altrude de Hauteville (Q15649137) (TP), not Richard of Hauteville (Q1527396) (TP) and Altrude de Conversano (Q75571698) (TP). She was the brother of Roger of Salerno (Q550310) (TP). Sourcing on the parentage of the second Altrude could be stronger. She was definitely Altrude, but the identification that she was the daughter of Geoffrey, Count of Conversano (Q1188760) could perhaps use confirmation. -- Jheald (talk) 16:19, 18 August 2020 (UTC)
- Q75453323 (Jane Warburton b. 1520s): Father is Q75551818 (Peter/Piers Warburton b. 1504), not Q75239818 (Peter Warburton b. 1540s, grandson of the former). Q75239818 also had a daughter Jane, married a William, which is a brother of Q75836323.
- Father of Q75707579 is another Robert, who is a son of Q75876499.
- Missing generation at Q75558087: Roger Swynnerton and Joanna Hastings had son Roger Swynnerton (=#i212072), who had son Thomas.
- Stella Mary Locker-Lampson (Q76120922) (1907-1986): Correct parents are Godfrey Locker-Lampson (Q13529973) and Sophy Félicité de Rodes (Q75494776) (m.5 Jan 1905), as per TP 1, not Frederick Locker-Lampson (Q5498292) and Hannah Jane Locker-Lampson (Q21779158) (m. 6 Jul 1874) per TP 2. FamilySearch K6QK-H24 has a detailed sourced tree for this family. Jheald (talk) 13:12, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Otto III, Duke of Carinthia (Q682317) (TP). Otto seems to be widely given a date of birth of "about 1265". This would mean he could not have been the son of Conrad IV of Germany (Q157179), who died in 1254. Instead he is said to be the son of Elisabeth of Bavaria, Queen of Germany (Q261237) by her second husband Meinhard (Q697204) (from whom he would more naturally inherit). Note: TP also has a duplicate entry for Otto, TP 2. Jheald (talk) 19:06, 29 December 2020 (UTC)
- Jacob Bosanquet (Q75578758) (TP 1) : Correct parents are David Bosanquet (Q75578722) (TP 2) and Elizabeth Hays (Q75578744) (TP 3). TP 1 inserts an additional generation, and gives his father as "unknown Smith-Bosanquet" (TP 4). But the Smith-Bosanquets descend from Horace James Smith-Bosanquet (Q75327714) who married Cecilia Jane Wentworth Bosanquet (Q75432584) on 7 October 1858. Furthermore there is no reference to either Bosanquet or Smith-Bosanquet in the index of [170], the reference given. Instead, per the sources linked from FamilySearch M35Y-VNB, the christening record for Jacob in 1713 indeed gives his parents as David and Elizabeth. Jheald (talk) 17:58, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
- Catherine Rigby (Q75253678) (b. 1663; m1. 1683) TP 1. Correct parents are Alexander Rigby (Q4719937) (1620-1694) and Margaret Hoghton (Q76011914), but TP 1 for Catherine says TP 2 "Colonel Alexander Rigby [who] married Anne Gobard, daughter of John Gobard". That Alexander corresponds to Alexander Rigby (Q4719936) (1594-1650), the father of her actual father. The reference for Catherine's father is given as "BP2003 volume 1, page 1102". I don't have access to the 2003 edition, but the 1913 edition, s.v. Derby (p.603) has "Peter [Stanley] m. 19 April 1683 Catherine. dau. of Col. Alexander Rigby, and was bur. 27 Jan. 1686, having by her (who m. 2ndly. Paul Amyas); had issue:...". In fact both Alexanders, father and son, were made colonel (and both served as MPs). But it was the younger Alexander who was Catherine's father. Jheald (talk) 17:05, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

- Catharine Grosvenor (Q75449565) was daughter, not great-granddaughter, of Richard Grosvenor and Catherine Cotton.
- Anne Winthrop (Q76051167) was granddaughter of John Winthrop the younger.
- [171] - Henry Beaumont (son of Henry Beaumont, 5th Lord Beaumont and Elizabeth Willoughby) and Henry Beaumont (married Joan Leventhorpe) is the same person.
- [172] - 1. This person was Anthony Fleming's mother, not wife 2. her father was Richard
- [173] - Ralph Grey who married Isabel Grey is son of Edward Grey and Anne (Gower) Grey and the first cousin of another Ralph Grey, son of Thomas Grey and Margaret Greystoke.
- Lord Robert Spencer (Q26277142) (TP): Parents should be Charles Spencer, 3rd Duke of Marlborough (Q514460) (TP) and his wife; not Lord Charles Spencer (Q6679058) who was Robert's brother. See eg History of Parliament entry. Jheald (talk) 21:59, 22 December 2021 (UTC)
- Lady Mary Tuchet (Q76303596): granddaughter (not daughter) of Mervyn Tuchet, 2nd Earl of Castlehaven. [174] is also wrong: the correct entry is [175] (husband and son should also be merged).--GZWDer (talk) 19:20, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
- [176] - Margaret de Lovayne is mother (not wife) of Thomas St. Clere.
- Clemens de Banastre (Q75918866): wife of Sibilla de Lea only
- Mary Preston (Q75615056) (TP): father should be Sir George Preston of Valleyfield, 1st Bt. (Q75615054) (TP), not "Sir John Preston of Valleyfield" (TP). Reference: The Scots peerage vol 2, p. 552 and p. 551 note 10. -- Jheald (talk) 17:10, 12 May 2022 (UTC)
- Baldwin I of Jerusalem (Q51717) (TP 1). TP has a second entry for him (TP 2) that makes him the son of Eustace I, Count of Boulogne (Q941303). The correct father is Eustace II, Count of Boulogne (Q451790). -- Jheald (talk) 08:02, 8 July 2022 (UTC)
- Juana Alfonso de Molina (Q5953768) (TP). Mother should be Teresa González de Lara (Q6142565), second wife of Alfonso of Molina (Q2468428), and not his first wife Mayor Alfonso de Meneses (Q5260562) who had died. Jheald (talk) 19:58, 9 July 2022 (UTC)

Duplicate Peerage entries edit
Once the duplicated entries have been merged at The Peerage, the now invalid entry should be deprecated rather than deleted. This is because the ID was valid at a period of time and old information can still be accessed using the Internet Archive. The deprecated entry should be set with a qualifier of reason for deprecated rank (P2241) withdrawn identifier value (Q21441764).
Warning: Peerage ID may be reused for another person once they are deleted. |

- Sir Edward East, Bt. (Q76261498) (TP): conflates Sir William East, 1st Bt. (Q75273033) and Sir Edward East, 1st Baronet (Q7526553). The son of William East (Q75497049) of Hall Place and brother of Elizabeth East (Q75497046) was Sir William East, 1st Bt. (Q75273033) [204][205]. Sir Edward East, 1st Baronet (Q7526553), though born in the same year, was from a different family (HistParl). An 1833 obituary in The Gentleman's Magazine for Elizabeth's son Sir Capel Molyneux makes the same mistake. [206] Jheald (talk) 18:52, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

- Re: Retief family. See Talk Page for sources (and I do recommend looking at that discussion -- you should double-check my conclusions) but here is a summary of the corrections. I have checked the surnames of all of them, and they are all spelled Retief not Reteif, so I will not repeat that correction in every entry. Furthermore, every person in this family whom you have recorded as "Francois" has their name printed "François" in at least some sources, so probably "Francois" is an error due to omitting diacritics; if you can find their own signature to see if they wrote the diacritic that would be better of course! - Francois Reteif (524458): Date of birth is 2 February 1663
- Francois Reteif (524456): Date of birth is 25 July 1708
- Francois Reteif (524454): Additional daughter Francina Philippa Reteif (524449)
- Margrieta Joubert (524455): First name spelled "Margaretha"
- Francina Philippa Reteif (524449): First name is Francina Philippina; daughter of Francois Reteif (524454)
- Francina Theron (524453): maiden name "Francina Jacoba Minnaar"
- Petrus Reteif (524450): Name is "Petrus Jacobus Retief" not "Petrus Reteif"
- Martha Margarethe Theron (524451): Middle name is Margaretha not Margarethe
- Aletta Elizabeth Pienaar (274983) first name is spelled "Alletta;" birth date 16 November 1843
- Elizabeth Catharina Merwe (484240) maiden name is van der Merwe not Merwe; birth date 24 September 1891
- A. Albert Hamborough is the same person as Albert John Hamborough; the "John" is correct. B. The surname of him and his daughter Catherine Louisa is spelled "Hambrough." See Burke's Landed Gentry under "Hambrough of Pipewell Hall." Levana Taylor (talk) 03:55, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

- John de Cerwick Leeds is John de Carrick Cheape. Caveat: "The Peerage" cites as its source the 2003 edition of Burke's Peerage, which I haven't been able to see. But, minus any updated information that may be there and nowhere online, here's the story. Sources are the 1911 census, Hart's Army List 1915, his CWGC page, and a mini-bio compiled in his hometown. All agree that he was born in 1894 in Switzerland, that his name was John de Carrick Cheape (the middle name misspelled Carrich on his gravestone in France), and that he lived with his mother Antoinette Ann Cheape (n.b.: not "Anne") in Framfield, Sussex. Antoinette had divorced her husband A. R. B. Leeds in 1885 and returned to her maiden name. I can't find any evidence at all of who John's father was. --Levana Taylor (talk) 01:27, 28 May 2020 (UTC)

But at there is no Archbishop Richard in the period 1100-1250 at en:Roman_Catholic_Archdiocese_of_Rouen.
