Creating spectral band pairs edit

@Paperoastro: need to create other items like B-V colour (Q2668836). LaddΩ chat ;) 03:21, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

@Laddo: here there is the list. ;-) --Paperoastro (talk) 13:45, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Which qualifier ? edit

Property_talk:P1227 suggests that astronomical filter (P1227) should be used as qualifier for color index; I initially thought that determination method (P459) would be appropriate. As I have no preference, someone more familiar with the domain should identify which qualifier is the best and we should document it ASAP: either fix the documentation above, or the documentation on Property_talk:P1227. It could be an idea, but I read the discussions concerning determination method (P459), and for me it is better astronomical filter (P1227).
What do you think about it Zolo? --Paperoastro (talk) 20:55, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
I do not really know what astronomical filters are supposed to do. As a comparison, I would say:
  1. if something is dated as 2000 BC with carbon 14, it should be determiniation method : Carbon 14 (different methods may give different results but only one date is actually correct).
  2. if you say: this is year 2014 in the Christian Calendar, "Christian Calendar" is not the "determination method", it it more something like "frame of reference" or "measurement unit" (year 1435 in the Muslim calendar would be equally correct).
I would think that astronomical filter is more like case B). Aldebaran color index 1.54 (B-V colour) and 1.90 U-B colour are both equally correct, so in that case determination method (P459) should not be used. --Zolo (talk) 08:15, 2 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
OK for astronomical filter (P1227), did the change in documentation. LaddΩ chat ;) 00:24, 3 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
