Merging items
Hallo George.Edward.C,
If you were not already using it, you may want to check out the merge.js gadget for merging items. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically nominate the page you are merging from for deletion. This way of nominating also makes it easier for the admins to process such requests. For support and other options you can check the help page about merging.
With regards, - cycŋ - (talk • contribs • logs) 08:59, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
- I do have this tool enabled, but I haven't used it. I mostly nominate request deletion of items that have been merged but have not been RFD'd. George.Edward.C – Talk – Contributions 15:16, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
R:Merge.js
Thank you for your advice! Now I'm trying the tool, and the work can be done better by that. --Tn4196 (debates) 13:14, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
- No problem, I'm glad it helped. :-) I've left out the last request (Q9118782), to let you have a go at testing the gadget! Cheers, George Edward C – Talk – Contributions 13:16, 3 January 2015 (UTC)
Congratulations, Dear Administrator!
English | español | français | Nederlands | русский | +/−
Caliburn/a, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Wikidata. Please take a moment to read the Wikidata:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Wikidata:Project chat, Wikidata:Requests for comment, and Wikidata:Administrators' noticeboard), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages.
Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikidata-admin @ irc.freenode.net. If you need access, you can flag someone down at @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Wikidata:Guide to Adminship to be useful reading. You may also want to consider adding yourself to meta:Template:Wikidata/Ambassadors, and to any similar page on your home wiki if one exists. (Check Wikipedia:Wikidata/Wikidatans (Q14964498).)
Please also add/update the languages you speak to your listing at Wikidata:List of administrators. You may also like to add your username to this list if you would not like that items you delete at RfD get marked as deleted automatically. Again, welcome to the admin corps!
- "Please accept my congratulations.--Ymblanter (talk) 20:04, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
- Cheers! I promise that I'll use my tools sensibly :-) George Edward C – Talk – Contributions 20:53, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
Re:Merging
Thank You very much for your tip. Next time I will try to use the tool :) Regards AldraW (talk) 21:19, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Tracking categories
I saw your suggestion regarding Persondata. Please can you expand on that, or show me an example. To be honest, I have no idea what tracking categories are! Periglio (talk) 17:15, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
- Like Commonscat, we could enforce "tracking categories" similarly. By "tracking categories" I mean categories such as "Category:Date of births in Persondata without a value on Wikidata" (perhaps some better wording). We can utilise the String Replace module to accomplish that. You can see an example here. I'm awful at explaining things, so please point out if you're confused :P George Edward C – Talk – Contributions 17:24, 25 January 2015 (UTC)
Re: A barnstar for you!

Question about "Tours"
> If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page.
Yes, I have a question. I am 100% new to wikidata, although I have read (and edited) on wikipedia for years.
I tried to take one of those "Tours", and it did not seem to be working. I will not spend as much time getting confused by that, next time (if there is a next time), since now I have seen some "Talk:" page that seems to indicate that those "Tours" are not working, and that (apparently) the problem has been a "known issue" for months.
Does that problem remain a "known issue"? Or is there perhaps something that I am doing wrong?
OK, besides that "question", I also have a "comment".
IMHO a notice (at the place where it says "click here" to take the tour) should be posted -- giving the status of the tours (e.g., whether they are temporarily "indisposed", that is, "not working"), ...and telling newbies [like me] "DO NOT click here", if appropriate. Just my 0.02. YMMV. --Mike Schwartz (talk) 06:39, 17 February 2015 (UTC)
- Indeed, tours have not been working for a while, at least last time I checked. I will consider adding a notice about its unavailability, thanks for the suggestion! If you need anything else, be sure to let me know! --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 06:46, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for your help. There are other articles as Abetchew Bayan, Flóra Kádár: I have created these articles in Hungarian Wikipedia and Csigabi wants to defend these articles from me, lol and finally Judith Szűcs. Many Thanks.Borgatya (talk) 16:57, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Hi! It's appreciated, but please stop edit warring over descriptions. Please only use capitals when it is a proper noun, and in no other case. If you do this, Csigabi will stop protecting these pages. Please take heed of this, or we have no choice than to issue blocks. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 17:00, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I appreciate your opinion about capitals but other examples like actor from Hungary or Hungarian actor is purely matter of taste, because though I am not a native English-speaker (nor Csigabi) but on Commons these forms. actors from ...country are used. But I would like to emphasize the conflict between us has not erupted from these little things, the reasons are deeper and he deliberately picked a quarrel with me.Borgatya (talk) 17:20, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Finally I would like to ask to help me he might keep off my editings, I will use lowercase in descriptions in the future but if you view all the articles no one follows this rule and earlier Csigabi was not alert, watchful and interestingly he applies this rule only in my editings.Borgatya (talk) 17:26, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- @Csigabi, Borgatya: I cannot agree more. If this disruption continues, action may be taken against you both. (sorry, but that is the only way that it can be fair) --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 17:35, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
- Ok, et the end, this reply is neutral because if I made a mistake, I cannot quarrel with/by myself, the dispute needs two parties, and why do you punish only me?Borgatya (talk) 17:53, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Two identifiers with qualifiers?
Hi. As George.Edward.C you welcomed me four months ago, after one day I was very active here.
Do you know whether it fits the current practice, at E. Lockhart for instance, to add two LCNAF identifer and two GND identifier, one for pseudonym E. Lockhart and one for real name Emily Jenkins? (Both libraries catalog Jenkins/Lockhart separately under the two identities. She has a biography at EN.wikipedia only, under the pseudonym E. Lockhart.)
Minutes ago I did that much and tried to [add qualifier] for each identifier, such as "as Lockhart", "as Jenkins"; "as pseudonym" ... The composition window welcomes "as" but I didn't get any further.
--P64 (talk) 23:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
- We don't have a property for that, as far as I know. You can propose one here! --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 07:04, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Now I find too that section 5 of the constraint violations report for VIAF identifier "Qualifiers" violations covers technically successful entries of "pseudonym" as a qualifier (Q519357).
- Do you know where to find discussion or instruction when real-name and pseudonymous entries for a person should be combined in one item, with multiple values for identifiers --or handled as multiple items with unique identifiers? --P64 (talk) 17:16, 26 March 2015 (UTC)
- I would tend to combine them, as multiple items may not be notable enough. --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 06:33, 27 March 2015 (UTC)
Hi Caliburn, I went bold and made some changes to your script. Most importantly, it doesn't add any claim where there's already one for the same property. --Ricordisamoa 16:43, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks! :D I really appreciate it. I hope it'll work better now. Thanks a lot. :D :D --George (Talk · Contribs · CentralAuth · Log) 16:45, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
Small questions from P64 one month later
Hi, George. Thanks for your reply to 2015-03-25 above.
1. Just now I read property follows (P155). Now I think Emily Windsnap and the Monster from the Deep(Q5372432) should have one statementː instance of; sequel; follows The Tail of Emily Windsnap --instead of separate statements (my yesterday adds): instance of; sequel andː follows; The Tail of Emily Windsnap. Is that right?
2. 2014 World Series (Q17514457). Do you know whether this is correct use of start time and end time properties? And whether this is correct use of participant; matches won/games won (not my work and I don't see how to add "3" or "3±1")?
--P64 (talk) 00:15, 24 April 2015 (UTC)
- Go for it!
- Looks fine :)
