Bot issue edit

Hi,

I can't do anything ... talk/even start legalize my bot or repair empty items. (I haven't plan to make empty items, just my programming logic is maybe creepy at first to find already existed items and creating new almost empty items and then refer to them and fill empty and already existed items with content.

Please somebody unblock my bot account (EV100_bot), thanks!  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by EV100 leksikonid (talk • contribs) at 10:18, 12 March 2018‎ (UTC).Reply

EV100 leksikonid, I saw your problem with User:EV100 bot and the (still unrepaired) items that it created. Let me give some advice in order to get this fixed:
  • If you operate with bots, please set up your two accounts as follows: this one (EV100 leksikonid) for all kind of manual editing, including discussions and meta stuff; and the other one (EV100 bot) for automatic editing in the main namespace only.
  • Wikidata:Bots contains information about the bot's user page style guidelines and the bot approval procedure. Do not use the bot account before it was approved in a successful botflag request by the bureaucrats.
  • You can repair all your edits with manual editing (using the account EV100 leksikonid). We talk about ~1.5k edits with the bot account, which is in fact a bit of work, but this repair is clearly doable with manual editing. I suggest to do this first, before you set up the bot. It may also help you to become more familiar with Wikidata.
In case of questions feel free to ask on this page (I’m watching it). Also: ping @Harmonia Amanda, Mahir256, as they were active on User talk:EV100 bot. —MisterSynergy (talk) 10:40, 16 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
  • Before creating more problematic items, would you attempt to repair the others?

  • Yep, my bot made a lot of not related almost empty items which are values. At first I try to join the items (some of them are values part of new items and others must be joined to already existed items/values)after that I mybe see the whole content and proper descriptions. Also I see that someone redirecting or using "my" empty items into wrong point and it takes time to investigate what is best practice and how to delete or redirect or redefine redirected already existed items and so on... Thanks for notice!

Father of themself edit

Hi,

You made a mistake on Viktor Kaasik (Q12378609) and Paul Himma (Q20527857) where you indicated that these person where their own father. I removed it. Could you take a look? (and do correction if needed)

Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 08:18, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi, there no content based mistake, but is relation error! Viktor Kaasik father is Viktor Kaasik and same case in Paul Himma (his father is also Paul Himma) but of course bot made mistake - didn't create new person because same name already existed :)
Thanks for corrections, all good now! EV100 leksikonid (talk) 08:53, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 12:56, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

I see that you are importing some biographies, but I cannot see the notability of some of them. I've reported Q50700279 to delete, please discuss there. --Infovarius (talk) 12:05, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

  • Sorry, but I don't have competence to discuss who is notable today and who is not! I just took all persons from Estonian biographical lexicon "Kes on kes? Eesti 2000" (Who is who? in Estonia 2000). Remark: A lot of "items" what I created are just father or mother somebody and nothing more.... (Maybe I don't understand your question properly) EV100 leksikonid (talk) 12:41, 27 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
Ok. Why do you decide that this lexicon is worth to import? What is the principle of inclusion there? --Infovarius (talk) 16:26, 28 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

Verifying your edits edit

Please verify your edits! stop adding disambiguation pages or worse as values for P734/P735. Someone with two given names is not the same than someone with a compound given name, etc. Labels are not enough to chose what item to use. You should not ever make a script based only on labels, that's a sure way of making wrong edits. And for names, we are already speaking of hundred of wrong edits. I didn't check the rest. --Harmonia Amanda (talk) 20:17, 29 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

References: described by source (P1343) vs. stated in (P248) edit

Hey EV100 leksikonid, I see that you have used described by source (P1343) in references a lot with value Kes on kes? Eesti 2000 (Q47088720) (list of claims). However, in references one should use property stated in (P248) instead of described by source (P1343). Would you mind if I repair all of them? I have a ready-to-use script available for such a task. Q50376126/Q50376129 edit

Hallo EV100,

Liilia Järvi (Q50376126) has been nominated for deletion and because it seems this item (and Q50376129) have been created by you/your bot I thought it would be useful to give you a heads up so you can react and prevent recreation of items that may just be deleted again.

Gender of Estonian people edit

Hello

Several entries you created for Estonian people appear in the constraint violations report for P25 because their gender (P21) is not specified. I checked some of them, but being not familiar with the Estonian language, I cannot figure for sure which given names are male and which are female. Could you fix this? Starting from Q50374997 I think. Thanks! Bvatant (talk) 23:36, 3 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
