Steak (talkcontribs)

The Elo ratings from December, January and February are missing.

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

I will definetely need to automate it so this doesn't happen. Currently setting up the bot (data) is pretty manual process.

ערן (talkcontribs)
  • Is it still mainly manual process? Do you own tool in tools lab? or have github repository? If so it would be nice to mention it in yours bot user page and other people (including me) would like to help to improve it  :-)
  • Can we make the latest update with high ranking and other claims with normal rank? (this is how it is normally done in other time dependent properties such as Q60#P1082)

Thanks!

Steak (talkcontribs)

No, preferred ranks are not used for Elo ratings. The most recent value can be queried by looking for the respective point in time.

Hi Edgars,

If you still have your bot code around, I was wondering if you'd consider completing the conversion of date of first performance (P1191) -> publication date (P577).

Currently there are a few episodes left in some series that use P1191 while most already have P577.

Hi! a) I'm adding the info to Wikidata, not to any of Wikipedia projects. b) I personally don't care, but don't think information should be deleted - it's in reliable sources and it's already on Internet. User:Steak, your thoughts?

Steak (talkcontribs)

I don't get it. Upload of Elo ratings to wikidata is of course useful. In the es:wiki article nothing was "accumulated". Can you please be more precise?

Every value of [[Property:P2574]] imported from polish is totally wrong: please stop!

Hi Edgards2007,

Sorry about reverting you. If you want, I can try to move lvwiki sitelinks from dab pages to surname pages, similarly to what had been done for enwiki. It would require that they are fairly stable.

Why did your bot not add Elo ratings to all the respective items? Quite a lot have been left out.

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

I added for those items, which had May 2018 rating in ratings.fide.com.

If you could point some few examples, which I left out (but has to have May 2018 rating) I can take a look.

Steak (talkcontribs)
Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

I wanted to get rid of those Elo ratings (finally), that I didn't did proper checking :)

Basically, both of your examples wee excluded, because they had several date of birth (P569) (that's not the reason, why they should be excluded, but exclusion was consequence of that).

Will get to this when will be back home from work.

Steak (talkcontribs)

Anyways, thanks for adding them. What do you mean with "get rid of" them?

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

updating rating was on my endless to-do-list. I wanted to get to this on every weekend. On every Friday I said to myself: "Edgars, you have to update those Elo ratings". On each Monday I said "Ok, you didn't do that this weekend, so you have to do this on next one".

Something like this.

Steak (talkcontribs)

Haha, I know this feeling :D Do you think you could also obtain the years when the titles have been awarded from the FIDE profiles of the players?

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

Only some 45 items were left. Did import rating also to them.

About years of titles. The web page doesn't seem very clean (the code), so finding the right place to scrape doesn't seem very trivial, but will have a look.

Steak (talkcontribs)

Any progress?

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

Sorry, no.

Have been bussy with writing some tools for Latvian Wikipedia

Steak (talkcontribs)

By the way, how is it done that all the Elo statements together with date and reference is set in only edit per item?

Jklamo (talkcontribs)

Please be more cautious while importing coordinates. It is not possible to import everything blindly. Check your edits and remove P625 from items like airplane (Q178351), type of dune (Q790510) or recurring sporting event (Q43605).

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

For now I stopped the import while I think out of good idea how to skip such items, and in the same time not skipping too much.

Jklamo (talkcontribs)

Maybe some constraints violation check? All of these are constraints violations so not so hard to detect.

Putnik (talkcontribs)

I noticed that for many coordinates added by the bot, September (Q123) is specified as a globe. At the moment, such elements are 8756: tinyurl.com/y6w22sa7.

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

...all coordinates, that my bot added last(?) week. I feel pretty stupid right now. Of course, will fix the issue. Fortunately, it isn't very visible in UI. No, it is. Geohack doesn't like it

VIGNERON (talkcontribs)

+1, could you correct these coordinates. Now Q123 is the second most use Globe for coordinates :(

SELECT  ?globe ?globeLabel ?image  ?count
WHERE
{
  {
     SELECT (count(?v) as ?count) ?globe
    WHERE
    {
        ?v wikibase:geoGlobe ?globe
    }
    GROUP BY ?globe
  }
  ?globe wdt:P18 ?image .
  SERVICE wikibase:label { bd:serviceParam wikibase:language "en" . }
}
ORDER BY DESC(?count)

Try it!

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

Wtf? I already fixed them. Where are they coming from?

VIGNERON (talkcontribs)

Thank you!

Ooups, sorry my bad (I always mix the name and countries, and it's worse in French where the name are very close "Lettonie" and "Lituanie" Oo).

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

Ok, this query returns 0 results:

SELECT distinct ?item
{
   ?item p:P625 [
           ps:P625 ?coord;
           psv:P625 [
             wikibase:geoLongitude ?lon;
             wikibase:geoLatitude ?lat;
             wikibase:geoGlobe ?globe;
           ] ;
         ]
  FILTER ( ?globe = wd:Q123)
}

Try it!

If somebody sees another item with Q123 as globe, link please.

Hello there! It was nice to meet you at WMCON as well. To continue our discussion about constraints: the development team is actively working on providing more stable features on this. If I understand correctly your request, being able to list the items that violate a specific constraints, it is included in our plan. You can find the ticket about it here. In general, you can see the board of our work on constraints. Hope that answers your concerns! :)

Edgars2007 (talkcontribs)

Yes, ticket looks good and what I was trying to say to you yesterday(?; all those days are now in one day in my head :D ).

Generally speaking, ideally we should have a way to check violations on item-by-item basis AND property-by-property basis. Actually it applies to other things as well. Harvesting data (from Wikipedia), for example. We need a way to harvest data property-by-property (Petscan, HarvestTemplates etc.) and item-by-item (wikidataInfoboxExport, for example), which devs are also working on, as I understand.
