Merging itemsEdit

Hallo Glovacki,

For merging items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically place a request to delete the emptied page. This way of nominating makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

With regards, -      - (Cycn/talk) 14:50, 14 March 2014 (UTC)

  • Thank you very much! --Glovacki (talk) 08:14, 30 March 2014 (UTC)

some help toolsEdit

Hi Glovacki! You may add some help tools to user:Glovacki/common.js or (if you use the vector skin) to user:Glovacki/vector.js . Please see User:Rotsaert8000 (in Esperanto), Wikidata:Tools, and Wikidata:Tools/User scripts for candidates you may add. On the user:i18n-page you will see all WD gadget links. It takes time to see what fits most of your interests. Good luck! Please feel free to use the Wikidata Sandbox item: Wikidata Sandbox (Q4115189)     for your first steps adding some statements see Wikidata:List of properties. If you want to notify a user you may use {{ping|foo bar}} at any place on this wiki. Regards gangLeri לערי ריינהארט (talk) 15:05, 27 May 2014 (UTC)

--Infovarius (talk) 18:02, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

--Glovacki (talk) 18:11, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Hello, I'm Andreasmperu. Welcome to Wikidata! I noticed that you recently removed a link from an item, but didn't add it anywhere else. If you feel that the link would be better suited to another item, please add it there. (If you don't know how to do that, feel free to contact me at my talk page and I can do it for you.) If you're curious about editing Wikidata, and would like to test things out, please try the Wikidata Sandbox. Thanks, and happy editing! --Andreasm háblame / just talk to me 23:53, 21 December 2015 (UTC)

Methods of computing square roots vs. Heron's methodEdit

Hi Glovacki,

You've merged Q20725439 "Heron's method" into Q1197114 "Methods of computing square roots". That was a wrong solution, because the first one is a much narrower topic. I've split them back.

Regards, Olexa Riznyk (talk) 19:28, 10 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi, I see that you splitted parts of the sitelinks of Illuminati (Q133957) to Q19750877. It seems to make sense, but I think it should be made the other way around, with Illuminati (Q133957) for the more narrow historical meaning, and a new item for the broader sense: statements and most sitelinks in Illuminati (Q133957), as well as incoming links from other items, are really just about Bavarian illuminati (plwiki and enwiki seem to be exceptions). --Zolo (talk) 11:56, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

  •   Done. Is everything all right? --Glovacki (talk) 13:10, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
Thanks, yes I think it is all right. Perhaps en:Illuminati should be kept in Illuminati (Q133957) though. Apart from its first sentence, it seems to be overwhelmingly about Bavarian illuminati, and all the other languages in the item might feel a bit lost if there is no link to enwiki. --Zolo (talk) 14:08, 28 March 2016 (UTC)

You recently changed Valery (Q19689546) from a given name to a disambiguation page. I have reversed this, as it was already a given name, it was already widely used as a given name for a lot of people, and only the Russian sitelink was a disambiguation page, so I felt that its status as given name took priority. I moved the Russian (disambiguation) sitelink to Valery (Q1336321), and merged Q19760763 into Valery (Q19689546), to keep the given names together, which I feel causes a lot less disruption. Silverfish (talk) 14:26, 6 April 2016 (UTC)

  • Thanks! That is ok --Glovacki (talk) 14:30, 6 April 2016 (UTC)
  • @Silverfish:, Russian page is about given name, and it contains a list of people with that name. I feel that it should be linked within Valery (Q19689546). --Infovarius (talk) 17:27, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
    • @Infovarius: The Russian page isn't just about the given name as it includes people with Valery as a surname. Also (Q19689546) already has a Russian sitelink, so we can't add another one. Silverfish (talk) 19:52, 7 April 2016 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but ru:Адмирал talk about the russian military rank of Адмирал. Ludo29 (talk) 13:44, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

  • Not only. It also talk about Dutch military rank, German military rank, US military rank, Polish military rank, Ukraininan military rank and so on. It talk about all usage of this term. So it best fits in Q132851. --Glovacki (talk) 13:46, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
90 or 95 % of the article talk about Адмирал. So, it's the good link. Ludo29 (talk) 13:48, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Please read again. Where do you see 90 or 95 % about russian military rank? it is only about 10-20 %. About Polish military rank we have more information in russian article. The better link is Q132851. --Glovacki (talk) 13:50, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
I've read it, many times. I use it to create (i've made translation) fr:Admiral (Russie).
Ludo29 (talk) 13:55, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Russian article is general article, not only about russian military rank but about all military ranks with that name. --Glovacki (talk) 13:58, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
You're joking ?
This one, Amiral is a general article. ru:Адмирал is a very good article, I've learned many things when I red it, but it's not a general article. It's an article about admiral in Russian.
Ludo29 (talk) 14:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
This is all general information not only about russian military rank. --Glovacki (talk) 14:06, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Do you really want that I paste here all the contents of ru:Адмирал which concerns only the Russian rank ? I can.... Ludo29 (talk) 14:08, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
There is less contents of ru:Адмирал which concerns only the Russian rank that general info. I already said this. ru:Адмирал should correspond to Amiral. --Glovacki (talk) 14:11, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
No. Ludo29 (talk) 14:12, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
I will create separate article about russian military rank then. --Glovacki (talk) 14:13, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Because of your obstinacy, I have to create old interwiki links :( : Sad. Ludo29 (talk) 14:19, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
I created ru:Адмирал (Россия). Now is it ok for you? --Glovacki (talk) 14:21, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
It's better. For working about military ranks on Wikipedia and Wikidata since long time, I've observed that a Wikipedia is often center about the navy of his country (es.wp with spanish navy, de.wp with german navy, etc.). It was the case on fr.wikipédia with french navy. We tried to correct that.
Effectively, general articles are often talking about the concept in some others countries but the heart of the article is the case in the country of the language.
I thank you for your creation on ru.wikipedia. It's a good thing to have one article, for one concept. Ludo29 (talk) 14:38, 7 May 2016 (UTC)
Some people in russian wikipedia think otherwise. So I am afraid that somebody will nominate these articles for merging. But I personally agree with you that one article, for one concept is better :) --Glovacki (talk) 14:41, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

So, I just improve Q23024093 with some dates about ranks. For the end of the rank of admiral in Russian Empire, I writed 1924 because of Русская эскадра. Is it ok for you ? Ludo29 (talk) 15:03, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Q27801? --Infovarius (talk) 11:31, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

--Glovacki (talk) 11:37, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

Observable universeEdit

I notice that you moved three sitelinks from Q221392 to Q12553794. I can't figure out what the difference between the two items is, though. The Russian and Ukrainian sitelinks from one redirect to articles on the other item. Do you know if the items are about the same topics? Should they be merged? --Yair rand (talk) 07:16, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

According to this kallendarium julian callendar was introduced on this area in 1800. In 1582-1799 only gregorian callendar was used in official documents, so I assume your source is wrong unless a real dual-dated document is referenced. The PWN encyklopaedia provides only gregorian post 1700 dates. Ankry (talk) 10:29, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

Edit

--Infovarius (talk) 14:37, 9 July 2017 (UTC)
