Missing properties for Swedish geography edit

Hi Lavellen! Nightwish asked me to help you with the missing properties for Sweden. I also saw your posting on the Administrators' noticeboard. I am a little confused ([[Wikidata:Property_proposal/Place#Statistics_Sweden-code_.2F_SCB-kod.2F]]) about how many properties are still needed. Can you fill in the templates or give me a list so I can fill them in for you? --Tobias1984 (talk) 09:56, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I reply on the PP-page to have everthing in one place. -- Lavallen (block) 11:13, 1 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fallback for Svedish edit

Hi, I noticed you've mentioned the topic in some discussion, so I'd like to ask: What are the wishes of the Swedish community regarding default fallback chain? Are there any changes desirable? Is your language not quite similar to Norwegian? Wikidata:Project_chat#Fallback_languages Best, Littledogboy (talk) 00:09, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

The level of mutual understanding is best for Norwegian bokmål, Danish and Norwegian nynorsk. Thereafter you have Low German, German and Dutch. Thereafter English and the rest of the Germanic language-family. But since English is studied by everybody in Sweden and large parts of the Swedish-speaking part of the Finish population, I guess you normally put English above Low German and German. We are technically close related to Islandic and Faroese, but they are not as easy to understand as some of the continental Germanic languages.
After the Germanic family, we understand the latin group best, with French, Spanish and Italian as the prefered languages by many.
The Baltic family are maybe not among the most alien, but since they have a habit of changing the spelling when they translate names, they are not preferred.
Finish (fi) and Sapmi (se) are spoken by many native Swedes, but these languages are not at all understood by those who have Swedish as First language. -- Lavallen (block) 05:24, 2 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
As you participated in the initial discussion for the above property and to clarify the scope of the property, you might want to look into the proposals at Wikidata:Property_proposal/Place#FIPS_for_countries.2Fregions_.28FIPS_10-4.29. --  Docu  at 07:21, 24 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Re:Arvidsjaur edit

Hey, sorry, I didn't noticed it was recalled. Actually, it was just a link to an image, which is already correctly recalled by the item regarding Arvidsjaur, and it didn't show any link to any Wikipedia (if I check the sv.wp page for the description of the CoA, it's a red link). Is it a feature used for all municipalities of Sweden here on Wikidata? --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 14:45, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Properties like coat of arms image (P94) has been proposed to be deleted since they duplicate the information in coat of arms (P237) in combination with image (P18). I think it's a good thought, even if I think we can wait with the delete of them until inherited properties can be used on Wikipedia. Therefor such items like this one is essential to not loose information, even if they do not have any article connected to them yet.
The text in the subject is merged into the article about the municipality on svwp. This since quality is a measured in "number of bytes/article". -- Lavallentalk(block) 15:07, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Translation edit

Hi Lavallen! Can I ask you for a quick favor. I got reverted while planting a link on all Physics projects to the Wikidata project on the Swedish Wiki. https://sv.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia%3AProjekt_fysik&diff=23689993&oldid=23689916 Can you add the link again and translate the text ("Visit the partner project on Wikidata")? The asked the admin that reverted me for the translation sv:Användardiskussion:MagnusA#WikiProject Physics, but it looks like he doesn't want to help me. Thanks a bunch! --Tobias1984 (talk) 18:37, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I can and will, but since that project is more or less dead, have I serious doubts about it's value. Not a single thread in the Project_talk has got any response since 2007. And the last user, still active, who has joined the project, joined it in 2006. It can be of larger value to recruit users like Lsj, who is teacher on university-level. He is also a skilled bot-owner. I guess the most value you can get from svwiki is in the taxonomy. There are extremly many users with that interest and today, by the help of Ljsbot, more than half of the articles has a taxobox. -- Lavallentalk(block) 18:52, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
Let's hope that the project is revitalized soon. If Lsj has time to check the project page once in a while that would be awesome. Language diversity is essential for Wikidata, so we ensure that the information can be used by anyone in the world. --Tobias1984 (talk) 19:03, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I am not so worried in the Physics-field in Swedish. Textbooks you are studying on Univiersity-level in Sweden are in English. Good textbooks in Swedish are rare. I have myself, studied some Mathematics, but I cannot contribute in that field on svwp, since all my courses were in English. Not even my teachers have been speaking Swedish. -- Lavallentalk(block) 19:12, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

FYI edit

From WD:AN#MediaWiki:Right-userrights, you can change translations on Translatewiki.net, and change on this wiki affect all WMF wikis and Mediawiki translations. You may want to change text there for all wikis :) --by ReviTCMG at 14:10, 8 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

I know, but in this case is it only on this project the change make sense, since the message is here primary used in WD:RFP. On other project, is this message not used for this purpose. A local sysop/crat cannot change all userrights. -- Lavallen (talk) 14:16, 8 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Bot license edit

Hi! I'm curious about which one is the bot that doesn't allow redistribution. Which one is it?--Micru (talk) 11:00, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

DotNetWikiBot was not in a free license last time I checked. Often I modify the code in the framework to improve what I can do within it, or copypaste some of the code. -- Lavallen (talk) 11:24, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Cool! --Micru (talk) 12:09, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
In some cases, when I have been able to upload the code, it can be found at sv:Wikipedia:Projekt DotNetWikiBot Framework#Kodexempel. But none of these codes works here at Wikidata. You can also find the code of some other users in that list. One problem is that it sometimes have happend that the password of the bot has been written in the page. -- Lavallen (talk) 12:27, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
