Wikidata is a free knowledge base that you can edit! It can be read and edited by humans and machines alike and you can go to any item page now and add to this ever-growing database!

Need some help getting started? Here are some pages you can familiarize yourself with:

Articles vs categories

Hello Piet-c, you moved/merged category pages to items with articles. Example:

• Libya (Q1016): Moving sitelinks from Category:Libya (Q6891421)

Merging items

Hallo Piet-c,

If you were not already using it, you may want to check out the merge.js gadget for merging items. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically nominate the page you are merging from for deletion. This way of nominating also makes it easier for the admins to process such requests. For support and other options you can check the help page about merging.

Wikinews

Please desist moving Wikinews category away from topics, it is not correct. See Wikidata:Wikinews/Development#Interproject links, correct form links the categories directly with WP articles. Blood Red Sandman (talk) 11:33, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

Wikinews links

Hi. I notice you moved Wikinews category links from disease (Q12136) to Category:Diseases and disorders (Q7215431). This is incorrect. Wikinews topic category pages are associated with the Wikidata items of the corresponding Wikipedia articles, not the Wikipedia categories. --Pi zero (talk) 13:52, 21 February 2015 (UTC)
