Motivation

The Rush Parliamentary Archive is a major resource for research on British politicians; it contains a complete index of all MPs since 1832 along with a huge amount of additional metadata such as their education, career details, family connections, occupation, right down to clubs of which they were a member. Getting this crosslinked to Wikidata would greatly help external researchers doing analysis, and would also give us a very solid authority index - Hansard (1803–2005) ID (P2015) covers this period but is not quite complete.

Unfortunately, the database is not yet available online; it was originally produced as an offline database in the late 1990s (project report) and has remained that way. I've been working with the History of Parliament and the Parliamentary Digital Service who are currently investigating ways to get this up and running online, and when it does we will be able to add a formatter URL to the property. For the time being, we have an extract in mix-and-match, and should be able to do a full match using this. Andrew Gray (talk) 19:38, 17 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
