Motivation

Notified participants of WikiProject Open Access

This would be a nice addition to ROARMAP ID (P4203), as Juliet contains lots of structured information about OA policies. It is more focused on funding bodies (whereas ROARMAP is more focused on universities). − Pintoch (talk) 10:30, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion

Comment What does v2 stand for in the formatter URL? Do you think it corresponds to second version? If yes, it means that there can be more changes to this data in the coming years. It could also mean that we may need one input for the version and the other for the identifier. John Samuel 10:35, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jsamwrites: I think it's just the version of the website indeed - I don't think the previous version is still online. It seems fine to ignore this - if they publish a new version with different identifiers, we can rename this one to be specifically for v2 (and potentially create a new one for the new version). If the identifiers remain the same in the new version, we can just update the formatter url. − Pintoch (talk) 10:42, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Support With the expectation that we may not end up in link rot situation (in case of future version changes) and that the formatter URL is updated, in that case. John Samuel 10:46, 2 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Strong support The previous version of Sherpa Juliet can be accessed via archive.org e.g. Cancer Research UK. The funder ID is a persistent identifier and the formatter url string is used as the URI in the system metadata on v2, which implies that it will be stable. If it changes we'll have to update the formatter url but that's not a big problem. I believe the v2 website is fairly new so hopefully there wont be any changes for a quite some time. I'd really like to see this property created and would also be keen to have a property Sherpa Romeo and perhaps Sherpa Fact for information about journal open access policies.
