Motivation
The Reptile Database (Q1644501) is a online database that has so much infomation of reptiles, like taxonomy, behavior and etimology. Mr. Fulano! Talk 23:33, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

- Comment from the examples, it seems that these could be stored as external-ID data, not URLs, for example

- @Pigsonthewing: I didn't know that is possible, but I thank that the better for it is URL option, but if you think that can be used external ID, I don't see any problem. - @Mr. Fulano: I do not have a problem with what Andy (@Pigsonthewing:) proposes. My only query stems from a discussion I had on this with the owner of Reptile Database today. His only concern was how links would be updated. For example if a species were to change genus its url would be changed, as would its id. Obviously either scenario of how we record data would require an update in this case on our part. Is there any difference in this from this perspective? From what I know of Reptile Database when a taxon changes name the old name is still searchable but will find the new name instead (if you use their search tool) or at worst will find the next higher order page. I will state that unlike many identifiers currently used for reptiles this is the most up to date database out there. Including ITIS and GBIF. Reptile Database is updated every 3 months and currently has 10400 odd species in it. Cheers Scott Thomson (Faendalimas) talk 01:29, 11 July 2018 (UTC)

- Yes it is focused on species, though they do have pages on genera that would be equivalent in appearance to our disambiguation pages. There is not a lot of data presented on genera, though you will find information on type species on the relevant species page. No nomenclatural data of substance is presented on genera. - Ah, two ranks: species and subspecies. That will complicate things. But "http://reptile-database.reptarium.cz/advanced_search?genus=" should work for all taxa? - Brya (talk) 11:05, 11 July 2018 (UTC)
- For subspecies they list them on the parent species page, example here Testudo graeca and yes you can search for any taxon level with their search page. Since no one disagreed and doesn't have enough information to another taxons beyond the species, I changed to external-id. Please, if any one could do this, put the regex. Mr. Fulano! Talk 23:35, 13 July 2018 (UTC)
