I am a user from Switzerland with interests in chemistry and other natural sciences and photography who has been active in various Wikimedia projects for seven years. After having missed the start of Wikidata due to holidays I got along quickly and would be happy to contribute to administrative tasks (e.g. deletion of duplicates, MediaWiki incl. gadgets, translations, small fixes, etc.), too. I am await eagerly the phase with the actual data to support the infoboxes in all Wikipedias. As an admin on Commons, de.wikipedia and en.wikipedia I am quite experienced with the tools. --Leyo 22:43, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

edit- Not convinced by rational for needing the tools, and with all of those other adminships it seems you have enough commitments elsewhere. Ajraddatz (talk) 23:06, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral. You've better explained why you could use the tools, but I still don't like these requests with people vaguely listing off what they plan to do and then rationalizing it by listing off their sysops elsewhere. Apologies if I've misunderstood, but this has been happening a lot here, and with a surplus of admins I can afford to be a bit picky. Ajraddatz (talk) 15:24, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Weak oppose It isn't clear, why you need the tools. Tasks like delete duplicates can be done by other administrators, because we have way more than enough users with this permission now and translations can be done by all users. I must agree with Ajraddatz at all. Vogone (talk) 23:27, 20 November 2012 (UTC)after the explanation below I'm going to weak support. ;-) Vogone (talk) 11:11, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]- Weak support in opposition to the above; it seems the user can be trusted and I don't feel the # of existing admins is a restricting factor. However, it's not exactly clear why tools are needed.--Jasper Deng (talk) 02:04, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

edit- Concerning “enough commitments”: Indeed, the admin/user ratio is currently quite high. As many more users will come over here, especially after the implementation in their Wikipedia, this rate is likely to drop. There will be much more traffic and there will be more administrative tasks.
- Concerning “needing the tools”: I feel that I could contribute more effectively with the tools. Like in this case doing the small fix myself would have been quicker and there would no need for two edits by an admin. It is very likely that I will have to ask for other such small fixes in future. By being multilingual I would be willing to take care of adding or correcting translations in the MediaWiki namespace (Vogone got me wrong above, I was not referring to translations of data in items) including gadgets.
- Concerning “enough commitments elsewhere”: I do not think this is a valid argument. It is not my goal to become one of the top 10 most active admins here, but I would be happy to contribute in administrative tasks.
