"Landscape art" translation in French

Bonjour,

je suis un nouveau sur wiki data et un de mes sujets de prédilection est la photographie. La première photo : http://zone47.com/crotos/?l=fr&p=&nb=20&s=&y1=-40000&y2=2014&p31=125191 est décrite en francais comme peinture de paysage Dans les propriétés je vois que le terme anglais est "landscape art"

Il faut donc distinguer, en français, la photographie de paysage des peintures de paysage, non?

Update of translation stats

Hi! Does anybody know how often are the translation stats updated? I'm currently trying to update outdated texts for ca: and some of the sections that show outdated texts, such as "Wikidata:Notability" or "Wikidata:List of properties" are not showing a real count, so everytime I enter them I get the "Nothing to translate" message. Thanks in advance! --Quico (talk) 12:06, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

There is something wrong if you get a message "nothing to translate". See untranslated Wikidata:Notability and Wikidata:List of Properties messages. There are few that needs to be translated. --Stryn (talk) 12:15, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I know there are some texts lefts to translate, but my question was specific to the outdated messages count. You know, "All / Untranslated / Outdated / Translated". For Notability, for example, it says there is a 7% of outdated messages, but if you access you find nothing to update.--Quico (talk) 12:23, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Well I think that there are not many who knows how the extension works. However I made a null edit (saved a translation without making any edits) and now "outdated" is 0%. Normally those stats should be updated automatically for what I know. --Stryn (talk) 12:28, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
I see... thanks anyway for your help! :) --Quico (talk) 12:33, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
This is an anoying bug of the translation extension. You translate a template with only two parts to translate: the tool shows 50% untranslated. The last edit is not counted properly. The same if there is one part for an update, there is one part counted as not translated after the edit. You need always a nulledit to get the real number. To make a nulledit just put a character or a space at the end of the text then remove it so there is no change in the text, but the software will accept to save the change without changing the text. When you push the change button, the number is updated, but there is no record in the version history. But be careful: if you choose a revied part for your nulledit, it will be unrevied afterwards.--Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 16:28, 11 January 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for your explanation for nulledits. Great bypass, very useful! :) This bug should however be fixed, although I guess it isn't easy or it would already have been fixed by now. --Quico (talk) 20:01, 13 January 2015 (UTC)
The translation extension is not a part of the MediaWiki or the Wikibase programme package, so the developers of Wikdata are not responsible for the translation extension. It is just a tool developed outside the WikiMedia Foundation, but used in many wikis. This bug is known for a long time, still not resolved. see more --Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 18:25, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Using translated images after uploading them to Commons

I have translated this image into Catalan and uploaded my translation to Commons. But now I don't know how to replace the English version by mine, since the translated help page does not allow me to modify the code. How could I do this? I would like to do the same with other images belonging to the Help pages. Thanks in advance! --Quico (talk) 13:10, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Keyboard shortcut gadget description

Hi. I have to confess that I don't really understand the translation system. I want to fix a typo in the German description of the keyboard shortcut gadget (MediaWiki:Gadget-KeyShortcuts.js). The description included in Special:Gadgets and also in the preferences usually would be MediaWiki:Gadget-KeyShortcuts/de. This page does not exist, and instead the text from Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14/de is displayed. I can't edit it, and Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14 does not exist. Where do I find the translation mask for that? On the tools page, the description displayed is Translations:Wikidata:Tools/Gadgets/11/de, which is different from the gadget's description, as it doesn't contain the typo I wanted to fix ("Tastenkomombinationen" -> "Tastenkombinationen"). Thanks for any help. --YMS (talk) 12:19, 27 January 2015 (UTC)

This is not an issue of the users or admins of Wikidata. This goes into the programming of the software and can only be done by people who have access.--Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 12:41, 27 January 2015 (UTC)
As I understand it, Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14 is not enabled, despite various translations (including Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14/en and Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14/de) exist, which cannot be edited, though. If MediaWiki:Gadget-KeyShortcuts would not contain a reference to these translations, but the text directly (as most other gadget descriptions do), we could translate that description in simple plain text files like MediaWiki:Gadget-KeyShortcuts/de (we probably could do so right now, but that would be introducing a parallel way of translating this page). Am I right here? If so, why do we use the translation there? And if we want to keep it that way, where can I ask for that page being able to be translated? --YMS (talk) 08:58, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
You can bring it up on Wikidata:Contact the development team.--Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 10:31, 28 January 2015 (UTC)
In MediaWiki:Gadget-KeyShortcuts I replaced Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14/de with Translations:Wikidata:Tools/Gadgets/11/de. I think that Translations:Wikidata:Tools/14/en and its translations are debris from the time of the old Wikidata:Tools page. --Pasleim (talk) 16:53, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Unused Translations

Does anybody knows how unused translations are treated? Wikidata:Tools had once 149 translation tags. Now it is reduced to 9 tags but the former 149 translations do still exist, e.g. Translations:Wikidata:Tools/1/en, Translations:Wikidata:Tools/100/fr. Shouldn't all those translations be deleted? And is there a special page which lists all such unused translations? --Pasleim (talk) 17:12, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Top priority for translations

Dear brothers and sisters in arms it seems there is not much work left to be done by Translation Administers for now. There is however still an extensive need for translations. There are some decisive texts which build the foundation of the participation of users on Wikidata. There is a row of decisive help texts, that are needed in all languages to provide users of every language a basic knowledge of the ways Wikidata works to enable them to be participants of Wikidata. In my opinion there is a critical number of labels and descriptions that is needed to be able to use properties. It is however more important to have proper labels and descriptions for the properties themselves. There can be reported lots of good results concerning the european languages, but there are some languages that are underrepresented. I´d like to make a list of the top priority texts to be translated. A list of the top 50 information and help files would be a good start. Please help in generating a list of the top 50 texts and other important tasks.--Giftzwerg 88 (talk) 15:20‎, 2.
