Aim and Scope

University of Chicago Library is participating in the PCC Wikidata Pilot Project with the following aims and scope:

Aims:

The University of Chicago Library seeks to: 

 • Acquire expertise in creating Wikidata description sets for entities of local interest.
 • Explore the use of Wikidata as a means of enhancing and enriching metadata in the Library’s digital collections. 
 • To gain greater experience generally in the deployment of Linked Open Data tools.

Scope:

The initial scope of the PCC WikiData Pilot Project is to provide Wikidata descriptions for the creators of photographs in the University of Chicago Library’s Middle East Photograph Archive (MEPA) collection in order to leverage Wikidata’s core strengths to enrich Middle East Photograph Archive’s metadata.
