Quick translation request

Hi -revi,

I am about to edit wikidata and I am wondering how to say "village in China" and "village in Indonesia" in Korean. Thank you in advance. --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 22:17, 20 February 2018 (UTC)

In Korean, 'village' is mixture of "town (Q3957)" and "village (Q532)". There is no really much difference in Korean translation, but village (Q532) is more for a relatively small group of households when there are less than few dozen households. Bigger than that is usually town (Q3957). Which one is the English text more accurate for your usage? — regards, Revi 22:21, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
oh I see. I think village (Q532) is good though. Artix Kreiger (talk) 22:38, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
After few more minutes to think, my general opinion is that 'just stick to 마을 unless you're depicting an isolated group (=town) of people in mountain'. Nowadays, with the civilization, most of the usage of town and village (in English label) is merging into town (Q3957). (WARNING: My personal opinion.) — regards, Revi 22:42, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
Actually I think so. I have to agree with you. It is merging into town. I had realized some "villages" in China had rather large populations so I guess "town" would be more appropriate. Artix Kreiger (talk) 22:48, 20 February 2018 (UTC)
