English descriptions edit

Hey Andrei, thanks for your work here at Wikidata. Just so you are aware, English descriptions should not have "a" or "the" before them, as defined in the Help:Descriptions guideline. Thanks :) Delsion23 (talk) 13:11, 31 August 2013 (UTC) Reply

OK, thanks for the heads-up.Andrei Stroe (talk) 06:52, 2 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Babel edit

Babel lets you view and edit more than one language on Wikidata. Just add e.g. {{#babel:de-N|en-3|sk-1|fr-2|cs-3|it-4|da-0}} to your user page. Best, Littledogboy (talk) 20:15, 4 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Merging items edit

Hallo Andrei,

When you are merging items, please use the Merge.js gadget. It helps you nominating, gives the option to always keep the lower number (which is older, so preferable) and makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

Romanian politicians edit

Hi Andrei Stroe, first of all thank you for contributing to Wikidata adding relevant information. I realized that you are creating elements for Romanian politicians, which is great, of course, but you are adding instance of (P31) as politician (Q82955). At least for my point of view the correct way to add that statement should be putting occupation (P106) as politician (Q82955) and instance of (P31) as human (Q5), which is the way that in most of the biographic entities I see that kind of information is added. -- Agabi10 (talk) 01:24, 11 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Salut, nu am vrut sa stric nimic la seria ministrilor Justitiei, vazand insa ca nu sunt si trecuti si alti ministri precedenti am considerat ca asta ar fi formatul, multumesc pentru clarificare. JohnBad (talk) 10:07, 28 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hey Andrei edit

The Republic of Geneva is not a country. You are breaking my Wikidata queries!

== media legend (P2096) ==

Hi, when you are adding media legend (P2096), please add as qualifier of the appropriate media property, eg. image (P18). Yesterady, you violated the constraint so much, so that it will require bot clean up. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 12:09, 3 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Cazan edit

Draga Andrei, te rog sa-l muti pe Mircea-Vasile Cazan (Q21746972) la Mircea Cazan. Ca referinta pagina sa electorala: http://www.mirceacazan.ro/. Multumesc! Mihai Andrei (talk) 12:44, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Reversion on Catalonia (Q5705) edit

Hi, I appologize if it breaks your queries. Probably they ask for incorrect value. I do not understand what you mean with "fight political battles elsewhere", cause I'm not involved in any political battle. You probably know that country (Q6256) in enwiki (not in cawiki) is: A country is a region that is identified as a distinct entity in political geography. A country may be an independent sovereign state or part of a larger state, as a non-sovereign or formerly sovereign political division, or a geographic region associated with sets of previously independent or differently associated people with distinct political characteristics. Catalonia, as Scotland (Q22) or Wales (Q25) accomplished this definition. It is NOT a sovereign state (Q3624078) nor a state (Q7275), but it is a country (Q6256) with parliament (Q35749) and legislature (Q11204). I added this P31 value, precisely, because in this query about Parliaments, the catalan chamber doesn't appear. So, if you don't mind, I'll revert again in a couple of days. If you need some more time to addapt your queries, just tell me. Regards, Amadalvarez (talk) 17:18, 3 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Amadalvarez: I suspect a politically-motivated change because Catalonia (Q5705) is the only such entity that is labelled as a country. Not other autonomous communities of Spain (such as Galicia or the Basque country), not every land of Germany and Austria, not every canton of Switzerland, not Flanders and Wallonia, not Republika Srpska and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, not Tatarstan or other autonomous republics in Russia; and not even the self-proclaimed unrecognized polities throughout the former USSR. So sorry if I can't see this as a coordinated effort to clarify what country (Q6256) is.
PS: Neither Catalonia (Q5705), nor any of those that I mentioned really qualified to be directly labelled as countries. It most likely needs a subclass of it. —Andreitalk 09:36, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
Well, it's not the only, Wales and Scotland are. I don't know why some of the territories you mentioned, are not labeled as country, but I've not problem to change them, too. In the case of Spain, Galicia and Basque country, can do it if they wish, because the spanish constitution recognize them as historical nationalities. Look that even the basque territori incorpores the word "country" in its name. The reason that they don't use this criteria should not be an sttoper to apply it in Catalonia. Regarding your PS, which subclass do you propose ?. Thanks, Amadalvarez (talk) 13:56, 4 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
autonomous administrative territorial entity (Q2533461) and dependent territory (Q161243) come to mind. —Andreitalk 10:50, 5 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
It is already included in the scope of the present P31. So sorry, but if it fit with the country definition of enwiki, I can't understand what's the problem. Amadalvarez (talk) 14:45, 5 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
