Hi Jitrixis, nameGuzzler is not more working on my account. Is it a general problem or happens this only on my account (I got some days ago a huge Win10 update). ~~~~

Hi Jitrixis, after using nameGuzzler a lot in the past time I’d like to offer some suggestions for improvement:

  • The buttons "save" and "close" at the bottom of the form appear in random order, thus sometimes "save" comes first and sometimes "close" comes first. I frequently click the wrong button (which is "close") for that reason — so could this issue receive your attention to implement a static order?
  • When adding a string to the form (the name to set), it often contains leading and/or trailing spaces from c+p which are removed before saving labels by the software. This is not the case for the edit summary (example), which is mildly irritating. A trim() or something similar would help here…
  • It would be cool it there was a tool to use nameGuzzler as a batch editor, pretty much similar as QuickStatements. Provide linewise input such as Qxyz<TAB>"Givenname Familyname" and a selection of languages, and then it processes all items in a batch. Do you think it is possible to set that up? This would probably be a larger task, however…

Regards!

 Done

MisterSynergy (talkcontribs)

Hi Jitrixis, I’d like to offer a German translation for the User:Jitrixis/nameGuzzler.js tool:

'de': { 'title': 'VIP-Bezeichnungen', 'label': 'Bezeichnung', 'languages': 'Sprachen', 'send': 'Speichern', 'close': 'Schließen', 'select-all': 'alle auswählen', 'auto': 'automatisch auswählen', 'reset': 'Auswahl zurücksetzen', 'selected-language': 'ausgewählte Sprache(n)', 'exemple': 'Johann Wolfgang von Goethe' }

Since I’m not permitted to edit this .js (for good reasons), you need to do this by yourself. Cheers!

Jitrixis (talkcontribs)

Thanks you. I've update the script.

Lymantria (talkcontribs)

Hi, I tried your dataDrainer today. But I didn't succeed, because I did not know what to enter as verification code. Can you clarify? Thanks in advance.

Jitrixis (talkcontribs)

Yes ! Good question !

Jitrixis (talkcontribs)

Now corrected ;) Thank you

Lymantria (talkcontribs)

I'm still puzzled, Jitrixis. How do I know what the verification code is?

Jitrixis (talkcontribs)

You need to force refresh your cache to see the update (w:en:WP:BYPASS). Normaly the verification code should appear on top of the text box.

Lymantria (talkcontribs)

I did refresh, tried IE, Firefox as well as chrome, but all I see in the tekst box is "Attention! you fully drain this item. Only administrators and patrollers can use this feature. Please check and verify what you want to clear. A verification code is request to run the script."

Yellowcard (talkcontribs)

Hi Jitrixis, to remove descriptions and labels with the dataDrainer one needs to be in the group autopatrolled. However, I cannot find this group on the User access levels. Did you maybe mean Autoconfirmed users? Anyway, I cannot empty labels or descriptions but I'm in the autoconfirmed group. What else needs to be done to be ready? Regards, ~~~~

Hsarrazin (talkcontribs)

same for me. I've been autopatrolled user for very long, but I don't see dataDrainer to remove labels and descriptions, while I added it to my common.js.

thanks for your help :)

Yellowcard (talkcontribs)

Hi Hsarrazin, in the meantime I created User:Yellowcard/datadrainer.js and disabled the check for rights in this version. So you can use all functions with this adapted version as long es the bug in the official version is not fixed. Feel free to use it. Cheers!

Jitrixis (talkcontribs)

I've update. The group has change since from autoconfirmed to rollbackers

Pigsonthewing (talkcontribs)

Please will you add Simple English (coded as "simple") capabilities to nameGuzzler? Here's an example edit

Pasleim (talkcontribs)

Note that "simple" is not a valid language code and adding labels in "simple" is only possible because of a bug in the software, phab:T102533. Simple English is about the content of the articles being simple, not the titles.
