Inverse of Special:ItemByTitle

With Special:ItemByTitle/enwiki/Wikidata I am redirected to Q2013, but with Special:TitleByItem/enwiki/Q2013 I'm not redirected to the corresponding Wikipedia page... is there any other way of doing it? Thanks!--Micru (talk) 18:47, 25 April 2014 (UTC)

User:Ricordisamoa/TitleByItem.js is a provisional hack. Waiting for a patch in the WikibaseRepo extension :-( --Ricordisamoa 21:19, 25 April 2014 (UTC)
Ricordisamoa, thanks it works! I hope your patch gets approved soon, it might be useful for external websites that want to use Wikidata identifiers to connect with Wikipedias. Perhaps it also needs a fallback mechanism to redirect to the item sitelinks in case no page exists for the specified language.--Micru (talk) 19:09, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
@Micru: sorry, I think my post was misleading. I am new to the Wikibase extension, so I would not be able to file a patch for your request. But I reported it on Bugzilla. --Ricordisamoa 23:46, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Get Special:DispatchStats via the API

Would someone update me about bugzilla:48140 and bugzilla:46910, please? It would be very useful for bots, thus avoiding the need of notifying every operator whenever the lag gets high. --Ricordisamoa 13:55, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

We will try to tackle the second one in one of the next sprints. If someone else wants to pick it up though that'd be totally awesome and free up some time to work on queries. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 16:22, 27 April 2014 (UTC)

Inconsistent autocomment

Using set="" and using remove="San Dbox|Xobdnas": the two edit summaries are different, although the bot did actually change the same things. Is this behavior desired? Can it be changed? Thanks, --Ricordisamoa 03:44, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

These were edits done by your bot using different API calls? Which ones exactly? Thanks :) --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 11:10, 4 May 2014 (UTC)
Respectively:
{"id": "Q4115189", "action": "wbsetaliases", "set": ""}
and
{"id": "Q4115189", "action": "wbsetaliases", "remove": "San Dbox|Xobdnas"}

Strange coord display

here (with precision = arcminute). Shows 51°49'60"N, 2°10'0"W instead of 51°50, 2°10 W (and with precision = minute, it should be 50'00). Transclusion on fr:Gloucestershire appears to work fine (shows the right level of precision). --Zolo (talk) 06:13, 1 May 2014 (UTC)

Thanks! Will investigate. Reported at bugzilla:64820. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 11:19, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Argh. Whyyyyyyyyyy? :D We will look into it. We're currently at the MediaWiki hackathon so it might take a few hours. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 06:09, 9 May 2014 (UTC)
Fixed now :) --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 13:48, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Phase 2 of Wikiquote

Is there currently a timetable?--GZWDer (talk) 10:12, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

I'll figure out a date in the next days and announce it. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 15:04, 10 May 2014 (UTC)

Currency units

A proposed property for 'net worth' (permalink) would ideally use monetary currency (e.g. Euro (Q4916), United States dollar (Q4917), or renminbi (Q39099), etc.) as a unit. Are currency units planned? Currency conversions would obviously be nice, but they don't strike be as necessary for basic support of currency as a unit. Emw (talk) 15:12, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Quantities with Units are a planned feature. John F. Lewis (talk) 15:14, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Yes, thank you. Specifically, my question is: are currency units among those units? Emw (talk) 16:00, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Yes, currency will be among those units. John F. Lewis (talk) 16:12, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

Merging again broken

I don't know whether I'm first or you are already working on this issue.

In Wikidata:Status updates/2014 05 17 there is:

Reworked a hell lot of “change operations” code that’s responsible for each and every edit as well as validating user input and API requests, for example denying empty descriptions and finding and blocking unnecessary duplications

These changes are very good; unfortunately, they've broken merging interface. It is now impossible to merge two items via API when both label and description in one language exist. A conflict of label and description is reported. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 16:50, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

I am unable to merge, too. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 20:58, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Sorry for the trouble :/ As Marius said on the bug report we have the fix. It will go live on 27th. Unfortunately it is too big and complicated to backport and deploy earlier. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 21:34, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

@Pasleim: There are big issues. Source items are deleted without successful merge. See Wikidata:Requests for deletions#Q12724614 and other requests. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 22:40, 21 May 2014 (UTC)

Switching to Julian calendar looks broken

I was not able to switch to Julian calendar when entering dates. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:09, 22 May 2014 (UTC)

Does bugzilla:64658 match your problem? --Nemo 09:10, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
No, I have window with selections, but clicking on change to Julian doesn't have any effect according to will be displayed as. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:17, 23 May 2014 (UTC)
Which item was this on? Which date did you enter? --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 16:56, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
Changing the calendar changes the stored value, not the displayed value. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 17:13, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
I need a concrete example to look into it and say more. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 12:05, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
You could try to switch date of birth to Julian calendar in Q1977210. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 13:42, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Aha! Ok that looks broken indeed. I've filed it as bugzilla:65847. Thanks! --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 10:42, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
I've told you that it changes the stored value. It doesn't change the displayed value. It isn't broken. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 10:52, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
The UI part is definitely broken. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 12:15, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
The UI is not broken. It always was like this. Calendar is simply a setting. You tell that this value has a calendar setting of Julian. Why should be changed? The stored value does change. Why do you say that is broken? What should be happen? See also Special:ListDatatypes. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 12:54, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
Because the UI should give feedback about this instead of just doing nothing when clicking the link "switch to Julian". --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 12:55, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
I see the issue. I have no „switch to Julian“ link. If you change the calendar three times, you get a feedback of superscript Julian. --JulesWinnfield-hu (talk) 13:07, 28 May 2014 (UTC)

Data type: time

retrieved (P813) is used most often with "today". It would be helpful (and avoid typing errors) if we don't need to look up the day and just enter "today" or any other shortcut. --Kolja21 (talk) 15:39, 26 May 2014 (UTC)

Yeah we need a default for that and today seems like a good one. We'll take this into account for the redesign. We'll also look into better defaults for the other ones. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 16:56, 26 May 2014 (UTC)
May be now fits better, because the data type is time and not date. ;) --Succu (talk) 15:46, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the fast feedback! today = "29 May 2014", now = "20:27, 29 May 2014 (UTC)". --Kolja21 (talk) 20:27, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
