Motivation edit

Q2758537 came up as part of WikiData:WikiProject Random and in searching for more information I came across many unofficial websites listing the villages of India. Eventually figured out their source of information was the 2011 census hosted on this government site. Worth noting villages have a different code in the census (see http://www.censusindia.gov.in/2011census/Listofvillagesandtowns.aspx) which is used by some 3rd party sites. •   Oppose per Bodhisattwa; this proposed identifier, it seems, is not used anywhere else, whereas P5578 is ubiquitous when making references to 2011 census data. (I am also concerned that the difference between the population values given at the three proposed identifiers for Kupwara district is not immediately clear.) •   Comment Strange thing with all these different identifiers from the same agency. In any case, this one would need a more specific label then. --- Jura 16:26, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • I'm tempted to withdraw this proposal since other identifiers from the actual census data exist already. However, I'm not sure that necessarily disqualifies this one as it is another valid ID from the site itself which presumably doesn't require a new property for each year a census is taken like the others. I'm not particularly attached to it though, I put it up for proposal purely because it exists as another avenue to interlink data and if it isn't valuable then so be it. --SilentSpike (talk) 19:33, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • Compared to Wikidata:Property proposal/Germany06.Ru person ID, I find these census properties indefinitely more useful. --- Jura 20:22, 20 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  •   Not done - there is no consensus to create this property --DannyS712 (talk) 21:03, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
