Motivation edit

Mod DB is a moding-oriented website, so it usually contains information about engines and frameworks the games built on.

I've wrote a script that fills software engine (P408) based on Mod DB, and, as a result, I have a small matching table between Wikidata items and Mod DB slugs. I'd like to upload it to Wikidata, it feels suitable.

Discussion edit

@Facenapalm: I think that a little later I will create a short video tutorial on how to do it. There is nothing complicated, except for the process of scraping the data and re-scraping in case of catalog update. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 02:26, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Could you make a tutorial for scrabing Fandom wikis? Both the whole site and specific categories only Trade (talk) 02:09, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Facenapalm: This is a known issue when a new property is created. The links to external identifiers will be clickable within 24-48 hours (maybe even less), so don't worry if they are not available at the moment. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 23:48, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, somehow never encountered that until now. Thanks for the reply! Facenapalm (talk) 23:51, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Facenapalm: Yeah, no problem! By the way, the links seem to be working now. You can purge one of the Wikidata items by ?action=purge command (example) in order to get the formatter URL to be recognized. Regards Kirilloparma (talk) 03:20, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
