Motivation edit
These properties serve as a starting point to describe ragas, both Hindustani (all four properties) and Carnatic (the first two, primarily). While a number of other properties may be proposed later to augment the description of these ragas (e.g. for the pakad (Q7125406), Chalan (Q56277847)s, Sthayi (Q7616089)s, and the like), I would like to augment the current (largely empty) items for ragas with this information first. The reference I have given provides such information for at most 1438 different ragas, though I have also identified other sources (such as the Raganidhi of B. Subba Rao) that may serve to expand on this information. Mahir256 (talk) 23:19, 16 November 2019 (UTC)

- It looks like there's a special notation used for the first two properties. Does that notation has a name (and can we add that name to the description? ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 10:19, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
- @ChristianKl: The ascending and descending scale properties, as stated at the top of this page, could be used more generally (such as with the distinctly non-Indian D major scale (Q20643499) and Bayati (Q6416889)); the "lyrics" added to the LilyPond are Latin script transcriptions of the Indian solfège notes (to avoid giving preference to any specific Indian language script when clarifying which swaras the notes in the scale represent). (Once these properties are created, I will note this convention on the currently empty Wikidata:WikiProject India/Classical music.) As a result I do not think that making a note of the convention on the properties themselves is necessary. Mahir256 (talk) 14:25, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
- It seems to me like it's important for data-consumers to know the notation as it allows them to parse the data correctly. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 15:45, 21 November 2019 (UTC)

- Doing… given how long it'll take to create 4 properties, noting here to avoid conflicts. --DannyS712 (talk) 21:29, 24 November 2019 (UTC)
