Such items provide transitivity, the creation of a hierarchical structure, hierarchical structuring of data: If an application developer is generally interested in ancestors, then a transitive closure must be computed. Such a closure is relevant for many hierarchical, spatial, and partonomical relations. The imposed approach of creating structured data exclusively only through properties does not create a hierarchical structure.
