False positive format constraint violations?

edit

  Notified participants of WikiProject property constraints

Looking at the violations of the format constraint, I can't see why they don't match the regex. See Highland (Q208279) as an example. --SilentSpike (talk) 10:03, 29 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

@SilentSpike: the only constraint violation I see is not for a format constraint, but for a Commons link constraint. It looks like we’re still not handling the Data namespace correctly there – I’ve opened T219619 to fix that. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 11:03, 29 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
@Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE): You're correct, I had misread the warning and confused the two constraints in my head. Thank you for your insight and opening a Phabricator task. --SilentSpike (talk) 11:14, 29 March 2019 (UTC)Reply

Expand to biological taxa?

edit

Hi, I am looking to use the Data namespace on Commons to upload distribution data from an open source atlas on mammal species [atlas-mamiferos.uevora.pt/index.php/mapas/]. However I cannot add the map data c:Data:Atlas de Mamíferos de Portugal/Apodemus sylvaticus.map to the species item Q212185 because it is not a place. Do I need to propose a new property, redefine the restrictions here or scrape my project? GoEThe (talk) 15:35, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

I'd propose a new property, similar to taxon range map image (P181) --- Jura 15:38, 4 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Does anyone know if it's possible to link to specific shapes/polygons in a geoshape? E.g. to link to a specific municipality on an item, without having to make separate .map GeoJSON files on Commons for every municipality. Husky (talk) 11:59, 16 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

SELECT ?item ?value WHERE { ?item wdt:P3896 ?value. FILTER(CONTAINS(STR(?value), "+")) }
Try it!

Seems they all don't work. --- Jura 12:28, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Apparently, a known problem: [1] (Feb 2022) and phab:T178184 (Oct 2017). --- Jura 13:54, 16 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not a shapefile

edit

I've removed all references to shapefile (Q278934), which is a proprietary data format, not a catch-all term for geospatial vector data. Commons uses GeoJSON (Q5533904), but I suppose that should be specified at a to-be-created equivalent of Wikimedia KML file (Q26267864) rather than the property?
