Welcome aboard edit

Hey Courcelles. Nice to see another familiar face. I just wanted to let you know about Wikidata:Project_chat#SlurpInterwiki_script. It'll make your life much easier if you decide to stay around. Sven Manguard Wha? 22:57, 2 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Interwiki's are wrong edit

Hello Courcelles, Please don't do this. This is not the right article with the description I made... Romaine (talk) 05:13, 3 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

How is this the wrong article? The page mentions x is a municipality in the Netherlands, and that article is about a municipality with name X in the Netherlands? Courcelles (talk) 05:31, 3 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Indeed, the en article I added, and the nl article use the same flag and map. How are they not about the same subject? Courcelles (talk) 05:32, 3 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
I have been creating al the municipalities based on the Dutch Wikipedia as that wiki is with the best quality info as that is the language area itself. On that wiki they have decided to split the town from the municipality, while the English Wikipedia makes it one. The result: the English article has an interwiki to the town on nl-wiki, while I meant the municipality, you added the interwiki to the town. That is one of the reasons why jumping on edits someone just made isn't a good idea. Greetings - Romaine (talk) 05:41, 3 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Interesting, and I wonder how frequent a problem this will be here; as I notice that nl makes some distinction between a "town" and a "municipality", which in (at least my dialect of) English are identical concepts. Oh well, I'll stay out of your way. Courcelles (talk) 06:31, 4 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Main type (GND) edit

Hi Courcelles, the main type of Leonard McCoy was correct "person", since he is a fictional character, see Wikidata:Infoboxes task force/persons. Star Trek is type "work". --Kolja21 (talk) 20:11, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! This error is new. I will leave Magnus a massage. --Kolja21 (talk) 20:21, 9 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Administrator edit

Hi, I've closed Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Administrator/Courcelles as successful and given you the administrator right. Congratulations. -- Bene* talk 08:22, 13 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

I've given you access to #wikidata-admin - I hope I got the invex right. (I also think I get a "I told you so" regarding your passing  ) --Rschen7754 08:50, 13 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Ha, that you do, Rschen! Thank you both. Courcelles (talk) 14:56, 13 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Elements to be merged edit

Somebody is creating elements for all categories and articles without interwikis. Those elements are useless and just make a lot more complicated the work of adding interwikis to those categories - since links to the useless previous element need to be removed. When I add interwikis, I leave those empty elements. Requesting deletion of empty elements is an extra work, that can be assumed if done quite fast in groups, but if for each element I need to find the merged element and copy and paste its number in the deletion request, that work alone is even bigger that what should be the whole work of adding an interwiki.

Then, I suggest mass deleting all elements with only one interwiki link and no other useful content, to ease the work of adding interwikis.

Anyway, if requesting deletion of empty elements is not helpful for sysops or the project, I'll just move the interwiki link when needed and leave the element as it remains (usually empty).--Pere prlpz (talk) 16:06, 18 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Wikidata useful edit

Hi, you might to be interested about User_talk:Magnus_Manske/wikidata_useful.js#Flooding_on_RC_page (see also Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Administrator/Docu and Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/Docu with script). --Stryn (talk) 17:12, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Interesting. I absolutely would have opposed that BRFA if I had seen it (that's not what the bot flag is for). Providing a rate-control for the script would be more useful and easier to run than using bots that aren't bots. If this is really a problem, has it been considered creating a flood flag, the way that Meta and a few other wikis have? [1]. Courcelles (talk) 21:48, 20 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Notability edit

You're totally right. I misread Wikidata:Notability. Thanks for the explanation! Kaldari (talk) 07:17, 24 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
