Cobis edit

Ciao!

--Uallv (talk) 00:43, 14 April 2020 (UTC)Reply
Scusa, non mi è arrivato il ping! No no, è la stessa persona, cfr qui (è il libro citato su Cobis). Spesso è citato solo come G. Fiamingo, immagino che qualcuno avrà tirato a indovinare il nome completo, sbagliando... --Syrio posso aiutare? 07:53, 16 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

UallvBot change description edit

Hi,

Can your bot be more precise in the description of the change, "Updated item" is very useless.

Something like "adding CoBiS author ID" for https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q9312&curid=10675&diff=1161844709&oldid=1156013243

eru [Talk] [french wiki] 17:18, 20 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! I updated the description --Uallv (talk) 13:03, 22 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Please stop or fix using BeWeb to add P1017 to people edit

2 Reasons: 1. You add the value in the wrong format, which leads to property constraint violations. 2. The added value is already present in the correct format, anyway. If you need to, just update the existing value by adding a reference. --Sotho Tal Ker (talk) 00:26, 27 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Concerts edit

Hello. I think in the concert items like Cristian Vogel concert performed during Montreux Jazz Festival the 2005-07-13 (Q99308489), the label should be only "Cristian Vogel", and the description should be "concert performed during Montreux Jazz Festival the 2005-07-13". Having such a long label that is not part of the official title and actually sounds like a description is not good. Steak (talk) 07:53, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

  • @Steak: Actually there are multiple concerts from the same artist (sometimes the same artists performed two concerts during the same year) leading to multiple items with the same label (thing that is not possible). What I did was the shortest title I could imagine. If you have a smarter alternative please tell me. --Uallv (talk) 08:06, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Of course it is possible to have multiple items with the same label. In such cases the description must be different, but this is not problem here. Steak (talk) 09:40, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Ok, I made the change you suggested. --Uallv (talk) 09:35, 15 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Larry Williams edit

Larry Williams (Q1272729) died in 1980. Your UallvBot is persistently adding links to the Montreux Jazz Festival Database to this item. The links are about performances during the years 1995-2018, where a guy who was also called Larry Williams played piano, saxophone or flute. This cannot be the Larry Williams of Q1272729. Sijtze Reurich (talk) 05:30, 28 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry it was an allignement problem. I removed it. --Uallv (talk) 06:39, 28 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

On a similar note, only one of the values you added to Africa (Q383842) seems correct. I strongly urge you to clean up your entire import; it should not be on other users, whether Sijtze or myself or anyone else, to disentangle the sorts of messes that have come out of it. Mahir256 (talk) 16:30, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. I removed all the alignment that were cusing the problems. Now it should be ok. --Uallv (talk) 16:41, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Another one. Mike Oldfield (Q3008) is now a rapper. This is new information for me. - Premeditated (talk) 17:11, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I stopped loading artists. The database was huge and I made some mistake. In the next days I'll start double-checking manually.

Duplicates edit

You’ve now created four items for Q99760754 in addition to the one that has long existed, see [1]. It’s easy to spot because MusicBrainz ID is on all of them. I suspect your other items have similar problems, but less visible because you rarely add more than the Montreal Festival ID. Do you do any checks before adding something? These other items have identical labels, titles, ids, etc...

In general, you add very little information. The Montreal DB does include the performer, and that should be included as a minimum. --Matthias Winkelmann (talk) 18:49, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

The Montreal DB does include the performer but does not include the composer and they could be different. Additionaly I found no property to express the concept "performed by". This is the reason why I loaded only the songs without information about the performer. Reguarding Musicbrainz I see the problem. I used Musicbrainz as a source to align Wikidata and the Montreux Jazz Festival. For sure there is something to fix . Ill'proceed as you suggested. --Uallv (talk) 09:45, 2 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

There are also now 820 "Unknown title" with the same MusicBrainz work ID (P435) (dd649c51-1d79-3fc5-bd7d-555c8e72e917) and 386 "Interlude" with the ID 201971c6-ea5a-38a5-aed6-4017906a60dc, with many different performers. Unlike the Right Thing items, these are probably not all performances of the same work. Peter James (talk) 20:57, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Of course. I'll remove and fix them as soon as possible. The database was huge and I missed something. I'll remove the link to the MusicBrainz id --Uallv (talk) 09:45, 2 October 2020 (UTC).Reply

Some of the MusicBrainz IDs seem to be incorrect; Q99780446 and Q99823315 have the same ID but Q99780446 is a different song, and MusicBrainz only has page for a recording (https://musicbrainz.org/recording/1d2242e1-4f18-476f-82bd-3ee7e95753d5). Peter James (talk) 21:48, 1 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Missing requests for permissions (bot) edit

Hi! I can't seem to find a bot request for permission connected to the Montreux Jazz Festival database import you have done recently. Did you make a request for permission? Visiting the website the footer clearly states "Copyright © 2020 Cultural Heritage & Innovation Center, EPFL (formerly Metamedia Center)", did you get permission to publish this data as CC0? - Premeditated (talk) 11:30, 12 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

This upload was made with an agreeement with WikimediaCH. The database holder forgot to change the licence of the website according to the upload project. I told them about the problem and they are working to change the license and make it compatible with the Wikidata license. --Uallv (talk) 12:33, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Very well, but I can still not find any bot request for this import. Also importing data before they changes the license are extremely risky. If you where paid to do this import it's also important that you disclose this after the Wikimedia Terms of Use. I have also written a complaint about this import of yours on Administrators' noticeboard. -Premeditated (talk) 13:16, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry for the missing bot permission request. I thought that being a small upload and doing a consistent part of it using quickstatements permission request could be skipped. I won't do the same mistake again. Thank you very much for pointing it out to me. --Uallv (talk) 13:36, 19 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Admin Noticeboard issue with your upload edit

Hi Uallv. I've started a new discussion about your upload at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Administrators%27_noticeboard#User%3AUallv_-_Montreux_Jazz_Festival_mass_upload ... not good news, I'm afraid. --Tagishsimon (talk) 10:36, 27 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
