Planned useWe are going to insert them in all the items of the Province of Pistoia (Q16245) for WLM2018 it:Wikipedia:Raduni/Editathon_e_Incontro_Wiki_Loves_Monuments_Pistoia before September, the 1st, but I will also inform trained local users to start to add them around, and the whole Italy project. I hope we can make a massive update in the local items for another area of Tuscany also by next year.
Expected completenessWe have at least one of these monuments in every Italian hamlets with a church or a town hall, but they are a finite number. The archive however is not complete and keeps expanding.

Motivation edit

As discussed here and in a sysop's talk page, this is a proposed ID for war memorials and plaques. The website is sponsored/geared by some serious profiles related to Associazione Nazionale Mutilati e Invalidi di Guerra (Q56205779). The quality seems ok: beside the examples on existing items, I made four more tests on description pages of monuments in different regions that corresponded perfectly with what was displayed on google maps street view.

War memorials are very common monuments in the lists of WLM Italy, because they are owned by local authorities and their licences are less controversial to be changed for commercial reuse than more iconic landmarks. As I said in other proposals this month many properties such as GeoNames ID (P1566) or Google Maps Customer ID (P3749) do not cover Italy very well, so we have started to look for more IDs for places and buildings specific for our country.

Please consider that these monuments do not usually have a specific article on Italian wikipedia (they are described in specific paragraphs in the articles of their artists, their squares or their hamlets or towns), so wikidata is the only place where they can be all correctly stored and categorized. Currently, the "minor" ones (i.e. the great majority) have no external IDs or only WLM ID on wikidata. Many of them are still missing.--Alexmar983 (talk) 22:29, 20 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
