Motivation
editThis property is intended for specifying link(s) to the shape expression (ShEx) of a class. John Samuel (talk) 08:36, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Additional context:
- Wikidata:Property proposal/Shape Expression for class is currently under hold. The proposal was made in May 2019 and is still "under hold" because the datatype is still not available
- Discussion on Wikidata:Project_chat#How_to_resume_a_property_proposal_being_on_hold (April 2020) on how to resume the property proposal discussion. Suggestions like string, identifiers and item as datatypes were made.

- Support, simple and efficient. I thought it already existed. Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 08:47, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
Oppose datatype. Use items instead.--- Jura 08:59, 12 April 2020 (UTC)- @Jura1: updated the datatype to item. John Samuel (talk) 07:31, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Jsamwrites: there is a sample item at E123 (Q64335281). Currently it still shows schemes. Support --- Jura 07:33, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1: updated the datatype to item. John Samuel (talk) 07:31, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose This is just the same as Wikidata:Property_proposal/Shape_Expression_for_class which is on hold until the datatype is available. --SilentSpike (talk) 09:19, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- Strong oppose I find the item datatype even worse for this. What purpose do they serve? It's just an intermediate step to get the URL which also bloats the Wikidata item space. --SilentSpike (talk) 13:48, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- To add structured data about the scheme? --- Jura 19:29, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- I don't feel that this adequately answers the question posed. What structured data is there to add about an EntitySchema item? --SilentSpike (talk) 15:57, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose; Wikidata:Property proposal/Shape Expression for class seems preferable to me, although it is "on hold" because that data type is not yet available. If the dev team declines an "entity schema" data type, this one would be an alternative. —MisterSynergy (talk) 11:47, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose I prefer using ShEx datatype, but in case it weren't created, I would prefer Jura1's proposal. --Tinker Bell ★ ♥ 04:04, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- @Tinker Bell: updated the datatype to item. John Samuel (talk) 07:32, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 06:32, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
- Support I think it's a nice intermediate solution. Currently, the shape expressions are really hard to find, and having them linked in this way, it's a lot easier to get them used more and better. --Egon Willighagen (talk) 08:17, 13 April 2020 (UTC)
@Jsamwrites, Salgo60, Jura1, VIGNERON, MisterSynergy:@Vladimir Alexiev, Tinker Bell, Egon Willighagen: Not done, strong oppositions the examples aren't items as the data type implies. We wil like have Wikidata:Property proposal/Shape Expression for class once the data-type is ready for that. ChristianKl ❪✉❫ 14:08, 20 May 2020 (UTC)
