Planned usemoving of information related to character types from narrative role (P5800) to this new property

Motivation edit

Currently narrative role (P5800) is used both for narrative roles ("protagonist", "antagonist", "sidekick"), including concepts capturing the importance of a character and character types. During the proposal of this property Shisma already pointed out that these are different concepts and may need different properties. To avoid ambiguities as to whether narrative role (P5800) or this new property should be applied (this might be the case with items like confidant (Q5160063) or Mentor (Q56605613)), the scope of narrative role (P5800) should be restricted to a list of allowed values. Discussion edit

  •   Comment would the components of a https://allthetropes.org/wiki/Four-Temperament_Ensemble be this, or instead fall under the character personality type proposal? Arlo Barnes (talk) 22:26, 24 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think for the temperaments themselves (melancholic, choleric, sanguine, phlegmatic) we should rather use personality trait (e.g personality traitcholeric (Q80085). For a character type characterized by the predominance of one of the tempers (e.g. The Lancer) We should use character type (e.g. character typeThe Lancer). A good source for a character type statement would need to be a secondary source. For personality trait statements the work itself can be a good source, if the author explicitly describes the character as having this personality trait. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 13:11, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
