Motivation edit
As far as i know there are no properties that would organize data related to crisis management. 813gan (talk) 21:30, 14 March 2020 (UTC)
Discussion edit
- Comment I think it is good to capture the information, but the proposal needs some more info, specifically the domain and subject item should be more clear as to what the constraints on the final property will be. Maybe specify allowed values. Iwan.Aucamp (talk) 23:21, 15 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment The scope must be better defined, or we are going to see things like countermeasure => AN/SLQ-25 Nixie (Q1345248) in items we did not expect to use this property. /ℇsquilo 17:51, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Sorry for late response. Do you think that property based on crisis management (Q1141276) would be better? --813gan (talk) 23:24, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

- Oppose has effect (P1542) already exists as a method for modelling measures used in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Dhx1 (talk) 16:45, 17 March 2020 (UTC)
- Opposeper above. 轻语者 (talk) 23:35, 18 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I know that has effect (P1542) is already used, but in my opinion its not good idea, this property good suits perfectly for things like panic buying (Q1036897), but actions taken by governments to counter pandemy are, in my opinion, completely different in their nature. --813gan (talk) 23:26, 19 March 2020 (UTC)

- Support, but please try to improve the label, possibly limit this to current issue at hand. This would answer which measures were taken and when. significant event (P793) could be an alternative. has effect (P1542) seems to miss the point. --- Jura 18:34, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- Agreed. 'has effect' is a quite different meaning. --Egon Willighagen (talk) 18:46, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- Maybe significant event (P793) is good enough to model this?--So9q (talk) 20:02, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
Comment ( Support after minor changes). I suggest changing the label to "organized response related to event". Also limit scope to attack, disease outbreak, natural catastrophic event ie. what is usually termed "force majeure". WDYT?--So9q (talk) 19:55, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- Support--So9q (talk) 07:57, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
Comment ( Support after minor changes). I like the idea. It seems like a subproperty of (P1647) of significant event (P793). The "when" of the measures taken is important, I agree with Jura, so it would be nice to have qualifiers in the examples for dates. Maybe start time (P580) and (when applicable) end time (P582). The scope limitation to catastrophic events as So9q said seems important too. Also, it has to be directed to areas that form a coherent political jurisdiction. For example, COVID-19 pandemic in the Americas (Q87406428) seems to me a bit outside the scope. TiagoLubiana (talk) 21:41, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- I completely agree :). WDYT @813gan:.--So9q (talk) 12:25, 23 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Sorry for late response and thanks for support. I applied suggested changes. --813gan (talk) 01:24, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I think I like the idea but would like to see the proposal developed more. Can anyone who wishes to develop this add more diverse examples? Is one military battle a countermeasure for another? Can something like a police station be a countermeasure for something like "crime in city X"? Is an immune response a countermeasure for a viral infection? In Chess is the Morphy Defense a countermeasure for Ruy Lopez (Q1290671)? What should the scope of this property be? Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:14, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- Comment I can support this proposal, but I see no reason to restrict the domain to crisis and similar. I can think of other relevant items, e.g., I would also like it to be used for wind turbine noise (Q66459114) and roadway noise (Q1850027). — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 09:11, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Note a related property: drug or therapy used for treatment (P2176) — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 09:14, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

- Comment I think it could be interesting to make this available to model current data. If this should cover something else, could we have samples @Bluerasberry, Fnielsen, So9q, 813gan, TiagoLubiana, Esquilo:? Otherwise, I suggest to limit this to disease outbreak (Q3241045). People can figure out possible parent properties later. --- Jura 15:11, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1: I agree. I can see some uses in other events, such as in en:Brumadinho_dam_disaster#Reactions, but I guess that when/if the need arises, we can discuss modifying the scope of the property. TiagoLubiana (talk) 15:52, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1: I agree. --Csisc (talk) 18:05, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- rename to "disease outbreak countermeasure" to narrow scope. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:23, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Jura1: I changed "domain" field, i think it enough to limit scope this way. I hope property is ready now.
- Nice, I changed the status to ready.--So9q (talk) 12:20, 1 April 2020 (UTC)
- Comment Hello everyone, I wanted to let you know that I have used the manual Non-pharmaceutical public health measures for mitigating the risk and impact of epidemic and pandemic influenza (Q88222459) from the WHO to create items for different categories of non-pharmaceutical countermeasures, such as border closure (Q88707306), against outbreaks. A list can be seen here: https://w.wiki/LeU. I think that the items that will be used with the property we are discussing sometimes could be marked as instance of (P31) of these countermeasures.(EDIT: I forgot to sign, here it comes) JoranL (talk) 14:31, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks! --813gan (talk) 21:28, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
