Comment I like this line of thinking, but it also seems like a bit of a subjective property. For example, is it a spoiler that a character appears in a work if they're not introduced in the first page (an extreme example, but illustrative of my line of thinking)? --SilentSpike (talk) 21:05, 4 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
- It could require a reference to support claims of spoiler-ness. Darth Vader being Luke's father is widely discussed as constituting a spoiler, but one would be hard-put to find a source describing the fact that Henry DeTamble is a time traveller as a spoiler.   - I'm not sure lesser known works would have available references - plus I think the majority of spoilers can be taken as referenced from the work itself (which doesn't require a reference). Thinking on my example, I suppose the distinction can be that spoilers are statements which reveal revelations and plot points in the story of the work (as opposed to reveal information about later on in the story which is new, but not central to the plot). --SilentSpike (talk) 00:18, 8 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
