Task/s: Repetitive automated edits on artworks. Import artworks data from dbpedia
Function details: Import from dbpedia-fr data which corresponds to the template https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mod%C3%A8le:Infobox_Art%7CInfobox_Art on french wikipédia. As first step I propose to import value for the property image (P18) . For example about the painting titled L'Angélus by Jean-François Millet there is on dbpedia http://fr.dbpedia.org/page/L%27Ang%C3%A9lus the value of dbpedia-owl:thumbnail which can be (after a short string processing) imported for The Angelus (Q2571560). Newbie on wikimedia bots I'm experienced in using dbpedia as you can see on this expiremental project : http://zone47.com/db/fr.php --Shonagon (talk) 23:58, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
So I Made a test. Here's the results : https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions/ShonagonBot
How I proceeded :
- Import data from dbpedia-fr in local database (especially name of the item and name of the WikiCommons file)
- check that the image file really exists (it's was not always the case with former versions of dbpedia-fr)
- dataset-test on 100 artworks
- quick visual check that image is correct (there was a Goya's painting for an artwork of Picasso)
- bot : test that the item exists
- bot : test that the item has no image
- bot : edit image property and value on wikidata
All results were checked manually : all what could be imported on this dataset was imported (63 edits for 100 artworks ; 36 have still image ; 1 was a Picasso's painting) with no errors.
After that I would like to continue to import image data of artworks from dbpedia-fr. --Shonagon (talk) 02:20, 14 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Update : I have made a new test with 339 image edits on the next 400 artworks. In the process I have to check too that the dbpedia-fr resource is reallly an artwork (which is wrong with 2-3% of pages because of an artwork infobox in others pages, almost people). --Shonagon (talk) 02:00, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Update : After importing all images url of artworks from dbpedia-fr, I have done the same with dbpedia-en and will continue with others. Notice, that I always make an automatic and visual check before importing in Wikidata to remove some false positives (not artwork, image file not on WikiCommons but just on wikipedia, wrong image). --Shonagon (talk) 22:48, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I plan to use this bot for repetitive edits. In artworks domain, like others, often data have to added or modified on similar objects. My first goal : Wikidata:Bot_requests#Fix_value_item_in_property

- Hi, I think you should be more detailed about the task. Make a task description for each thing you want to do. When do some test edits for us to evaluate. Byrial (talk) 10:05, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- The task consists in replacing made from material (P186): oil painting (Q174705) with made from material (P186): oil paint (Q296955) for instance of (P31): painting (Q3305213). I have made the request in my learning of using bots but i'm still not ready.
- OK, thanks for the details, feel free to do a trial when you're ready, and let us know if you have any problems. Hazard-SJ ✈ 01:27, 22 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- You might want to have a look at https://github.com/legoktm/wikidata/blob/master/migrate_genders.py (at least, you need to change item numbers at 3 places and property ids at 2). -- Docu at 10:00, 1 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I set up the SamoaBot Delinker after a code update, and it has already got the job done. --Ricordisamoa 07:09, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Shonagon, seeing that this has already been done, would you like to re-purpose this request it, or can it be closed (you can always create another request)? Hazard SJ 09:08, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I'm sure he could find another similar one to do. -- Docu at 17:21, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Yes I've another idea about data from dbpedia-fr and change te request. --Shonagon (talk) 23:32, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- Thanks Ricordisamoa for the job ! --Shonagon (talk) 23:32, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- OK, keep us posted. Hazard SJ 03:45, 13 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Support Looks good, if if that is checked manually there should not be major issues. Minor point: image titles look better without underscore: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q2313006&diff=70917774&oldid=70901617 . --Zolo (talk) 07:23, 17 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- Update was made for removing underscore and adding source (Wikipedia) as reference --Shonagon (talk) 22:48, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
- I think you've made enough test edits on your bot. Also, I'm not sure do we require/need sources for images. --Stryn (talk) 04:32, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
