RE:Wrong date entered

Hi, dices que los datos que publica la WHO no son muy confiables/precisos pero casualmente son los mismos que publica la PIB. Entonces no es muy entendible esa postura. This is for your kind information that, from 22nd May, 2020 Friday to 24th May, 2020 Sunday, a datathon will be happening on Indian scientists on Wikidata. The lack of data about Indian scientists, their works and publications on Wikidata is the reason behind conducting the datathon. Considering the ongoing pandemic, the datathon will also focus on scientists working on SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19.

The tasklist of the datathon is flexible. Participants can choose their own preferred task on this topic

Duplicate Script tool to create bulletins

Hi, I recieved your email regarding using Duplicate script tool to create bulletins. Thanks for the suggestion, I didn't have any knowledge about it as I am new to the Wikidata. I will try it out and see how it works. - Mayankj429 (talk) 19:10, 18 May 2020 (UTC)

@Mayankj429: There are two suggestions which i request you to follow: 1)Please create items only for those dates in which the bulletins are created, ie. I have seen an item dated for 20 May related to Haryana. If it's accidentally created, that's ok. Otherwise, the only problem that will occur is that others may create new items without knowing that you have created one. 2)You might be knowing this already, anyway, for the items created by you using the duplicate script, you will have to add descriptions for each of the new item you create. All statements except description will be there in the new item. So, please copy descriptions from the source item from which you created the duplicate one. That was the first item i created using the tool and accidently got 2 duplicates as in the first click on Duplicate this Item pop up was blocked on my browser and i clicked again, so second item was created unknowingly, I will be carefull next time. I searched for 18 May bulletin for haryana which i couldn't find on nhmharyana.gov.in otherwise it could have been used for 18 May, so i named it for 20 May. - Mayankj429 (talk) 14:43, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

No problem. I have added May 18 bulletin. Just check this page. It lists all the bulletins of Haryana created till date. When checking the column 'full work available at', you will be able to understand that the url has 3 to 4 formats. So, changing the url to one of them work sometimes. Regarding QuickStatements

Actually, I didn't understand what you mean by 'command sequence syntax'. Anyway, I will list the steps. First, you need to create an Excel sheet similar to this. Then, you need to reform the data in the Excel sheet into a structured item. For this, you need to use a tool called OpenRefine (I use this). The details about the tool can be found here.

Steps to transform into a structured data:

1)Download, install and then open OpenRefine.

2)Select Clipboard option and copy the data in the excel sheet into the Clipboard. Press Start.

3)Just press Start in the next menu. Then, match the data in Excel sheet with those in Wikidata (If you didn't get it, you can ping me).

4)Create a schema similar to the one shared in the Info sheet in Covid-19 taskforce excel sheet.

5)Now, 2 options are available. Either Upload edits to Wikidata or Export to QuickStatements. I think it's better to use 'Upload edits to Wikidata'. Add a summary and it's finished. Adithyak1997 (talk) 05:48, 1 June 2020 (UTC)

Ethanol

I think you don't understand what subclass of (P279) is. hydroxyl (Q104116)subclass of (P279)ethanol (Q153) and ethyl group (Q1371525)subclass of (P279)ethanol (Q153) are clearly wrong as functional groups are not subclasses of chemical compounds; chemical compounds consist of functional groups, proper statements are present in ethanol (Q153). This should be done (if at all) by changing has part(s) of the class (P2670) to has part(s) (P527). 'If at all' because the proper classification (instance of (P31)/subclass of (P279)) of chemical entities is still under discussion. Wostr (talk) 08:56, 17 June 2020 (UTC) BTW This page does not indicate that B should be a subclass of A (i.e. with 'ethanol (Q153): hydroxyl (Q104116)' it does not indicate that hydroxyl (Q104116)subclass of (P279)ethanol (Q153)); it indicates that B should probably have a statement with subclass of (P279) (in many cases it's a problem whether it should have Binstance of (P31)Qxxx or Bsubclass of (P279)Qxxx, not Bsubclass of (P279)A). Wikidata 8th birthday events in India

Hello Adithyak1997!,

I am happy to inform you that we are organizing a series of events on the occasion of the 8th birthday of Wikidata on behalf of WikiProject India in the form of webinars, datathon and merchandise distribution. Details of the events can be found here.

1. Webinars- 3 sessions on 3 very interesting topics will be conducted as follows. The sessions will be open for all.

• October 11 2020, 6 pm IST:- Jane023 will talk about Sum of all Paintings, describe and demonstrate the workflow on improving data about paintings on Wikidata. A data-thon on Indian paintings will follow for the next 16 days.
• October 17 2020, 7 pm IST:- DVrandecic (WMF) will be introducing the newest sister project of the Wikimedia universe, the Abstract Wikipedia and WikiLambda to the Indian community and how as a community, we need to be prepared for this upcoming exciting and ambitious project.
• October 18 2020, 7 pm IST:- Mahir256 will conduct a session on the Wikidata Lexeme. He will explain the importance of lexicographical data and demonstrate the workflow.

1. Datathon - October 12 to October 28, 2020:- A 16-days long online datathon will be conducted on Indian paintings. The output of the datathon will be given as a birthday gift to Wikidata on October 29.

1. Merchandise distribution- During the month of October, CIS-A2K will be sending Wikidata special merchandise to Indian affiliates and communities upon request as well as active contributors of Wikidata residing in India. Details on how to request merchandise can be found here.

The above mentioned activities are already finalised. If any of the Indian communities or affiliates are planning activities on the occasion of Wikidata's 8th birthday, please feel free to enlist them here.

India-specific properties datathon

Greetings Adithyak1997!

As part of Wikidata's 8th birthday celebration a 5 days long India-specific properties datathon from October 25, 2020, 00:00 to October 29, 2020, 23:59 (both times Indian Standard Time) being organised to improve India-specific properties and celebrate Wikidata's Birthday by contributing to the free open data movement. Currently there are 76 India-specific properties available in Wikidata. The primary objective of this datathon is to add / improve the usage of Wikidata Properties related to India in Wikidata.

Wikidata Eleventh Birthday - India Datathon

As part of Wikidata's 11th birthday celebration a 11 days long datathon is planned from October 26, 2023 00:00 to November 5, 2023, 23:59 (both times Indian Standard Time) to improve the India related data in Wikidata. The data-thon aims to enhance Wikidata items by incorporating labels and descriptions in your native language, along with the addition of references, qualifiers, and statements. Additionally, it encourages the utilization of India-related properties within these items, ultimately contributing to the improvement of structured data in Wikidata.
