Import of J9U IDs - solving problems

English: Hi! Thanks again for your import of J9U ID (P8189) IDs to Wikidata! However, I have just noticed that there are 175 cases in which two items, one (or both) being a human, share the same ID; these errors seem, in nearly all cases, due to the import. There are different types of cases, here some (please check 0247 tag in J9U):

• wrong ID due to strange error in J9U (contains both the correct one and this)
• wrong ID due to banal error in J9U (contains both the correct one and this, which misses the last digit)
• wrong ID due to disambiguation error in J9U (contains both the correct one and this disambiguation page!)
• wrong ID due to author-work error in J9U (contains both the correct one and this work item)

I am removing J9U IDs from not-pertinent items, but I need that wrong links from J9U to Wikidata are removed too; otherwise, future imports from J9U to Wikidata will make my work useless; so, I would ask you, when I have completely emptied the page, to check all the 175 J9U IDs one by one, in order to align them to Wikidata. Probably most of them need an adjustment in J9U, I'm not sure all of them; you can copy them from the two tables here. I suggest you to intervene in J9U after I have cleaned everything in Wikidata, so that you can rely on my edits instead of doing the same work that I'm doing, losing more time ;-) --Epìdosis 13:25, 4 September 2022 (UTC)

Matlin, Don't think that bravence needed her. It is better to be carefully rather than just mach id's. it make mass that makes a lot's of efforts to fix them. see her. Incorrectly associating family names with an individual family

I was reviewing your recent edits and you've added J9U identifiers to instances of family name (Q101352). That is nearly always incorrect. In the example of Westfeldt (Q63441575), a family name/last name, you have associated it with the J9U for "Westfeldt family". Please review your updates to items of type family name (Q101352). Error detection

Your bot should not add a date that contradicts an existing date by more than a few years. The date added has a person dying before they were born or living more than 120 years. Can you adjust the bot to look for those obvious errors? See for example: John Inglett-Fortescue (Q26265809). See: Wikidata:Database reports/items with P569 greater than P570 for one of the error detection searches I monitor. I just corrected eight errors. The problem may be caused by Reinheitsgebot which has been adding in incorrect VIAF identifiiers. RAN (talk) 16:07, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

• I already fixed it. See: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q5084955&diff=1915009146&oldid=1858895992 It may still be show up in the Error Report until it runs again, it takes up a lot of CPU time, so it only runs once a day. You can force it to update if you want, sometimes it stops running because it is using too much CPU time. It is set to run at night when the load is lighter. --RAN (talk) 17:45, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Hello, we got a report error in the Spanish Wikipedia about the birthdate of Q1452592. I saw that you made an edit not so long ago in which you added a birthday that is much more contemporary compared to the ones that were already in the datasheet and in the article on eswiki. His book Techeles Mordechai (תכלת מרדכי) - part 1 (WorldCat), part 2 (WorldCat), part 3 (WorldCat). The info about his date of birth is from Geni. I didn't notice the above messages of 20 March by @Stephan Tournay:; I think in fact this LC n87120214 is problematic: His Naturwissenschaft im beginnenden Mittelalter is surely a work of Karl Manitius (Q1606593): German historian (1899-1979), but at the same time it has an exact match with https://isni.org/isni/0000000118389219 (which is Karl Manitius (Q15730342): German grammar school teacher, classical philologist and historian of science (1848-1921)), and among the 11 resources connected to it there are both books by both persons, so I have added it in both items and marked it as conflated. --Epìdosis 20:09, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

A little bit more complicated. The VIAF-Cluster is VIAF:22149912461806211539. There is a record from DNB describing some german person engaging in antisemitism, working as a kind of teacher in theaters, see de:Burak Yilmaz (Autor). J9U assigned the work "Ehrensache: Kämpfen gegen Judenhass" which can also be seen in german wikipedia and in the GND-Record https://d-nb.info/gnd/1228635358

LC-Auth describes some dentist of Ohio State University and J9U seems to be derived from LC-Auth, so it shows "Dentistry‏" and happily mixes the work of german person with the profession of the Ohio guy. I'm not sure if these items are a good idea. Is this really a distinct role and occupation? Part of the problem is that Episcopal Church (Q3586152) isn't really a coherent tradition itself, but rather a cluster of similar denominations used by those trying to classify the various branches of Christianity. As a main organizer of Wikicite 2025 I share my role in the academic committe with two other users who have edit access to external databases, and this topic holds significant interest for me.
