Deletions edit

Hi, if the contents of for instance Q14862276 were deleted, can that page be used again for another item? Or is it necessarily merged? JMK (talk) 09:53, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello. You already merged the contents with Q199132, right? Q14862276 was deleted because it was already merged and empty. If you need a page for another item, please create another one. --Penn Station (talk) 10:08, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
No, when I arrived at Q14862276, it had some duplicate information. So I deleted the info, transferred the info to the more complete page, and left Q14862276 empty. Then I wondered if I could use Q14862276 again, for another item, but apparently not. JMK (talk) 13:49, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
We called it "merge". Transferring all info from Q14862276 to Q199132 left it empty, then an editor found it and made a request to delete it [1]. I recommend you to create another page rather than reusing it to avoid confusion. --Penn Station (talk) 15:28, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Evanioidea seems to have three unnecessary pages. JMK (talk) 12:58, 8 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Deletions2 edit

Not sure how it happened, as Hymatismus did not show up in a search, so by accident I created two pages for it. Hymatismus (Q15138623) and Hymatismus (Q15142412). Perhaps you can link the latter to the first. JMK (talk) 05:52, 10 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Rutelinae also needs a merger. If I should rather report it elsewhere, please tell me. JMK (talk) 21:03, 10 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hello, sorry for the late reply. Q15142412 was already deleted. If you find an item which needs a merger, please do it, and then make a request to delete empty one at Wikidata:Requests for deletions. --Penn Station (talk) 10:51, 2 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

re: Links are still remaining edit

Bot will replace all links if you add requests to User:BeneBot*/movelinks.js. see Special:Contributions/BeneBot*.--GZWDer (talk) 14:43, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

It's a js page which can only be edited by an admin.--GZWDer (talk) 15:06, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

The aim of User:BeneBot*/movelinks.js is that administrators can add requests when he/she see a page to be deleted but with link in.--GZWDer (talk) 15:20, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

I replied to you at your talk page. You can add movelinks requests to User talk:BeneBot*/movelinks.js#Requests that non-admin users can edit. Please reply at you page to avoid divided conversation. --Penn Station (talk) 16:07, 7 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi Penn Station! Thank you for deleting those QIDs. (By the way, RFD is flooding up again) Jianhui67 talkcontribs 16:44, 13 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

No problem. I have already handled most of the requests, and now I'll go to the bed. Good night. --Penn Station (talk) 17:07, 13 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
Do you think my requests for deletions are fine? Jianhui67 talkcontribs 10:56, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply
I think so. I don't see any problems so far. --Penn Station (talk) 15:50, 15 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Q11551762 edit

Please undelete it. I have reverted.--GZWDer (talk) 16:21, 25 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Undeleted. It seems to be a different person. --Penn Station (talk) 16:29, 25 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Deletion edit

Hi! I saw you merged Q7044115 with lithostratigraphic unit (Q3550897), but didn't move the links (Special:WhatLinksHere/Q7044115). The way to do this is using User:BeneBot*/movelinks.js for links from other items. Links from pages have to be done manually. --Tobias1984 (talk) 10:41, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

I had requested deletion of Q3550897 precisely because lithostratigraphic unit (Q7044115) was referenced by other items. Now there are a bunch of constraint violations due to broken links. LaddΩ chat ;) 12:21, 8 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hello Tobias1984 and LaddΩ. Thank you for your notice. I deleted the higher Qid item, but it had some links.. I have updated all the links manually from Q7044115 to Q3550897. --Penn Station (talk) 12:34, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the quick fix. Note that criteria to select the item to be merged to were revised in the last months. LaddΩ chat ;) 12:48, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, again. I have missed the revision and will take it into account in future. --Penn Station (talk) 13:45, 9 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

Chamaecereus (Q3666049) edit

This merge mixed a species with a genus. Please undo the merge. Thanks. --Succu (talk) 06:51, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Restored the item. Please check it and arrange related pages if necessary. Thanks for the notice. --Penn Station (talk) 10:59, 23 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Merge-project requiring language skills edit

Dear Wikidatan,

Even though Wikidata phase 1 (replacing interlanguage by Wikidata) is officially finished, there are still a lot a duplicate items that should be merged. Projects to list possible duplicates (and therefore possibles mergers) have been started by users such as Pasleim with User:Pasleim/projectmerge and Ivan A. Krestinin with User:Ivan A. Krestinin/To merge. Those bot-generated lists do however contain quite some false positives and therefore still need a human eye to decide whether to merge or not.

Since you are an administrator on Wikidata with knowledge of the Japanese language, User:Ivan A. Krestinin/To merge/jawiki might benefit from your help. As said, it lists couples of WD items that might possibly be merged. If you are already involved in these projects or not interested, I am sincerely sorry for bothering you.

With kind regards, FakirNL (talk) 23:43, 27 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Michelia sirindhorniae (Q15548466) edit

Please restore Michelia sirindhorniae (Q15548466). It has to be used as basionym in Magnolia sirindhorniae (Q13014180). Thanks. --Succu (talk) 16:23, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Q16727222 edit

This one was merged incorrectly, could you please restore it? (Is there a page for un-deletion requests here?) YLSS (talk) 18:50, 4 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry for the late reply. The page was already restored by another admin. --Penn Station (talk) 05:08, 8 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Little help for merge edit

Hi! Could you check if Kuniji Saitō (Q57888134) and Kuniji Saitō (Q98734535) are the same and merge them (on ja.wikipedia) if necessary? Thank you very much, --Epìdosis 12:44, 14 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Thank you for your notice. It seems that they are the same and should be merged on jawiki. I will ask people who are interested in astronomy to check this. It will maybe take some time. --Penn Station (talk) 17:04, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users edit

Hi!

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)
