Motivation

edit

Diktyon is a project which aims at bringing together various databases for Greek manuscripts (more info on their website). The Dikyton numbers are widely used among the scientific community. They are non-significant numerical IDs for Greek manuscripts held in public and private collections around the world. The IDs are mainly used to link to the Pinakes database (link) hosted by the IRHT which also assigns and curates the IDs. Pinakes records shelfmarks, dating, textual content, scribes, possessors, scholarly literature and links to digital (and physical) reproductions. In short, it is the go-to resource for everything codicological.

I believe having the Diktyon IDs in our items about manuscripts would be an asset.
