Per Wikidata:Project_chat/Archive/2023/05#Do_wikidata_allow_reusing_redirected_items?, items should not be reused if merged afterwards, since there are concerns about conflation (especially off-wiki). Instead, the appropriate measure is to duplicate and delete the items and clarify in the delete summary what it had been repurposed for. All of these had been initially merged to another item before being repurposed for a different item, whose information will be accordingly spun-off into. The items in question will be deleted once I fix all of them. - @Ymblanter: Allowing info on the item topics to remain in the older item causes potential issues with conflation beyond Wikidata, hence they should be moved to the newer items with the older ones deleted without being merged at all. ミラP@Miraclepine 20:35, 14 January 2024 (UTC)
- For what I unterstood of the topic discussed in the Project Chat, the problematic items were the ones that were repurposed at some point, not the ones that were merged into them because of the repurposing. Those should be fine, as they were only ever about one topic before the merge, thus simply restoring them, as was already done, should be enough. If we have A as the original item, B as the repurposed item into which A was merged, I can only see two situations: either an external database has a link to A, and therefore doesn't see any problem now that the items were restored, or it has a link to B and the items having be deleted it shouldn't be able to import data from it.
