RfD edit

Hello Cardabela,
welcome to Wikidata and thank you for your nice work related to the categories. Don't forget to report the empty items on WD:RFD (and the reason why), so that they would get deleted. You could post there all at once. If you have any question, just ask.
Best regards, --#Reaper (talk) 14:16, 28 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Birth/People categories edit

Hi Cardabela48! I noticed that you made some changes in good faith to Category:People from Kazan (Q6041180) by moving the interwiki links from Category:Births in Kazan (Q13365088). However, there are some fine differences across the plateau of different language Wikipedias. En.wiki doesn't categorise people by where they were born, but many other Wikipedias do, such as fr.wiki. In some cases, like the Russian and Ukrainian Wikipedias, they have both categories. Just because category trees are similar, they shouldn't always be merged. The interwikis have to match up 100%. So please, to avoid interwiki conflicts, be careful in the future. All the best! Jared Preston (talk) 15:53, 29 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Merging items edit

Hallo Cardabela48,

For merging items, you may want to use the merge.js gadget from help page about merging. It has an option "Request deletion for extra items on RfD" to automatically place a request to delete the emptied page. This way of nominating makes it a lot easier for the admins to process the requests.

I see you do the merges manually now, that's all right, but you may find using the gadget saves you time and effort. If not, no problem, the work you do is appreciated regardlessly.

With regards, -      - (Cycn/talk) 09:50, 9 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please use the merge gadget! edit

Hi Cardabela48, I see that you are doing lots of work for merging categories manually and requesting deletion for leftover items. I believe it would be preferable to replace these leftover pages with redirections (see Help:Redirects). It would no longer require Administrators to manually perform the deletion of the leftover item, and make Wikidata much more stable in case the old items were already being used in other items or by external clients.

As other contributors indicated on this talk page, I recommend that you use the merge gadget for best addressing such cases. See Help:Merge if you don't know how to activate or use that tool, there is a section for MediaWiki:Gadget-Merge.js in every language. It is very easy to enable it (from your preferences), much faster than manual merges like you are currently doing, and leaves a cleaner WD.

Let me know if something is not clear or if you have questions. Regards - LaddΩ chat ;) 16:36, 27 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mixing up concepts edit

Please don't mix up different concepts please, like a Wikimedia list and a position. I've cleaned up the mess you've created. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 08:31, 17 September 2016 (UTC)Reply

Succession d'ambassadeurs edit

--Zolo (talk) 09:11, 28 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

GND edit

Hello Cardabela48, please don't add GND identifiers when they only refer to names, not to individual persons, such as [1]. You can tell the difference by looking at the identifier in the German National Library (if it says "Name" instead of "Person", don't use it) or at VIAF (if it says "undifferentiated", don't use it). Zahia Ziouani (Q3574604) edit

Bonjour,

– The preceding unsigned comment was added by Roniee (talk • contribs) at 10:32, 11 April 2019‎ (UTC).Reply

Diana Abgar edit

Honorary doctorates' lists edit

Hello! I think we should use two distinctive properties - "topic's main category" (P910), which is a broad category of everything related to "doctor honoris causa" title from a particular institution, and more narrow one, "category for recipients of this award" (P2517), which has to be a category for people, received this award. Most of the time these two have the same value. In some rare cases they are different.

I see you removed P2517 in the past while I did the same with P910. Right now I don't think we should remove the 1st or the 2nd - they supposed to be different. What's your opinion? PeterLemenkov (talk) 07:32, 24 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Organization coordinates edit

Hi. You readded coordinates to Q1370342. I don't think this is good practise as organizations generally aren't fixated to particular location, as mentioned earlier in edit summary (Special:Diff/1791903609), and so simple coordinates statement is ambigous and imprecise. Organizations can operate in multiple locations or in different locations at different times. This particular organizations also operates in multiple locations. In this item headquarters coordinates are already provided more accurately as a qualifer to headquarters location (P159). See also recommendations in Wikidata:WikiProject Companies/Properties. 2001:7D0:81FD:BC80:ADCC:412:9E5B:39F0 08:36, 29 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

I suppose your concern is the infobox in fr:Académie estonienne de musique et de théâtre? Coordinates can be entered there if this template (yet) can't extract coordinates from headquarters location (P159). I added the coordinates in this article (fr:Special:Diff/200131158) so now it shouln't be necessary to readd the coordinate location (P625) statement for this reason. 2001:7D0:81FD:BC80:4CA7:259C:E026:69A2 09:42, 4 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Preferred rank edit

Hello Cardabela48!

Please do not put names in preferred rank if that is part of the full birth name. Other projects need the information, e.g. Wikimedia Commons to specify the name categories. Otherwise, the other first names and surnames are automatically hidden when one of the names is ranked preferred, which may result in empty categories. Best regards --HarryNº2 (talk) 17:13, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
