New version of SlurpInterwiki edit

Hi. There is a new version of SlurpInterwiki. If you refresh your browser cache (Ctrl + Shift + R in Firefox, see other browsers) you will load it. The main change is that it doesn't flood recent changes. Regards. Emijrp (talk) 22:08, 31 October 2012 (UTC)Reply

Descriptions Can only admins edit descriptions? How can I get adminship to give it a whirl? Koavf (talk) 18:56, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

No, I believe there's no admin required to add descriptions to an item. You just need add some text to the box below the label one and press "save". :) --Wiki13 talk 19:01, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
See Q5106 How did this happen? —Justin (koavf)TCM 19:04, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see Wikidata:Requests for permissions... —Justin (koavf)TCM 19:10, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Just like I said. After you started a new item it gives two inputboxes at the top of the item. The bigger one is for the title. The smaller one is for the description. It is saying "enter description" and that's excactly the place where you can input your description for the item. After you press save, it will be saved. Regards --Wiki13 talk 19:13, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
Right But that description was in French--I don't see how to add other descriptions. And the diff link just shows it magically appearing. —Justin (koavf)TCM 19:27, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply
That's a known bug on Bugzilla. If you change your language in your preferences it would work for now. Hopefully they will fix that bug in the future. --Wiki13 talk 19:31, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Ah Thanks! I'm looking forward to this getting off the ground. —Justin (koavf)TCM 19:37, 1 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Q4192350 deleted but necessary edit

Hello. The log says you deleted item Q4192350 which is the screenwriter of the film Dollman Q4174526. Dollman is a legitimate item for a film with an English Wikipedia link. A film needs to have a statement for its screenwriter. The only way to make this statement is to have an item for the screenwriter even if there is no Wikipedia article. There is a discussion at Wikidata_talk:Notability#Adapt_rules_for_phase_2 pointing out that the policy for deleting items under Phase 1 is obsolete and needs to updated for Phase 2, to handle a case like this. Are the Administrators discussing this issue (and can item Q4192350 be restored)? Thanks, Jefft0 (talk) 06:39, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hello, what your saying is right. The page Wikidata:Notability is still a guideline, even when the {{Guideline}} is removed. The page may be obsolete for phase 2, but thats still no reason to not follow it. Until there is concencus on the change I will not undelete the item as it still doesn't meet the current rules. If change to guideline is made I'm happy restore it. --Wiki13 talk 10:05, 12 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

How edit

How do you make a page for a template or a category on Wikidata? I can not click edit on the top so i dont know. --Trade (talk) 13:25, 27 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, somehow I missed this message, but I still want to answer. I think you want to create an item for a category? If yes, you can just copy the name if it don't exist yest, and create the item. The description could be "Wikipedia category" or something like that. --Wiki13 talk 11:19, 3 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

MediaWiki:Gadget-autoEdit.js - extra comma. edit

Hi.

in this change, you added another item to the "transData" filed in MediaWiki:Gadget-autoEdit.js. while doing so, you added a comma after the last item of the object. note that before your edit, the last item was "be", which did not end with a comma (i.e., no comma between

be: { /* all the fileds... */ }

and the closing " } " of the object). you added a new field, "gl", and added a comma after it. most browsers can deal with this extraneous comma with no problems. however, IE (before version 9) is not so lenient. removing this comma will have no effect on the sane browsers or IE9, but will solve the issue for IE prior to 9. if you want to see the effect of this comma and you have IE9, you can simulate "pre-9" behavior by switching to "compatibility mode" (the small "broken page" icon at the end of the address line in the browser).

could you please remove this extra comma? thanks a bunch, peace - קיפודנחש (talk) 15:56, 5 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Ok, thanks. And when you add a phrase in MediaWiki:Gadget-... , beware, you must add a comma in last phrase (when you add new phrase, it will be penultimate phrase). In this change, you forgot add a comma, Stryn already fixed it. --Vivaelcelta (talk) 10:01, 11 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Chemical reaction edit

--Wiki13 talk 10:48, 8 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Chemical reaction Lotje (talk) 14:23, 8 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps the items should be merged and one of them deleted? Request deletion of one of the items at Wikidata:Requests for deletion, or ask at Wikidata:Interwiki conflicts if you believe that they should not be merged.

SMARTASSISTANT entry deleted. Why? edit

Hello, I was just in the middle of editing the listing for SMARTASSISTANT and you deleted it claiming it was SPAM. What was the exact reason for that?

I'll be grateful for your response.

Regards D.

I think in fact you want to refer to me, as I deleted the page. The point is that SMARTASSISTANT does not fulfil the notability criteria. Your addition seems to have the main objective to have it listed in wikidata, as to gain more attention. This is why I deleted is as "advertising". The spam label may not have been completely appropriate. Lymantria (talk) 09:14, 8 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Propdental page deleted edit

Hello,

I created a page https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q20045034 with the information regarding my business. I saw that you deleted it, marking as Spam/advertising. The page that I created was purely descriptive, without any spam or advertising. I was trying to follow the examples of international brands, such as Nike or PepsiCo. I am sure, if you compared my page to those ones you would not find anything spammy or disturbing. Can you please review that page once again? Or can you please indicate what exactly you considered disturbing on that page?

Thanks

Propdental page deleted 2 edit

Hello again,

I am sorry, I couldn't figure out how to continue the same thread so I had to open a new discussion. I still don't see how is that reasoning applicable to this case. There are numerous examples of descriptive pages of businesses listed in Wikidata, for example: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q19794151

Does that company fulfil the notability criteria according to your judgement?

Also, in notability it goes: "Note that the guidelines below are intentionally left a bit vague." I believe that the existence of numerous links to my website and references to it at various blogs and other online media can be considered as the following attribute: "It refers to an instance of a clearly identifiable conceptual or material entity. The entity must be notable, in the sense that it can be described using serious and publicly available references."

My business is a material entity that can be described using serious and publicly available references. So, I believe that I fulfil notability criteria.

Do you agree with this reasoning?

Thanks

No, I don't and I don't think that the business you refer to should have an item here either. I nominated Q19794151 for deletion here. Let's see if other admins agree. Lymantria (talk) 16:46, 12 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hey edit

Quick question for you,

Im about to update some descriptions on Wikidata. Can you translate for me "Rural Commune in Morroco" (Q17318027), and "village in Indonesia" into Dutch? Thank you in advance. Artix Kreiger (talk) 19:46, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Artix Kreiger:. The first one can be translated as "rurale gemeente in Marokko" and the second one as "dorp in Indonesië". Kind regards, Wiki13 talk 19:52, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
I do want to note that for a sizeable amount of the second one I believe there is already a description which is more descriptive, so you might want to take caution there. --Wiki13 talk 19:54, 27 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Page Q66385292 deleted, Why? edit

Hi, I see that my page was deleted as spam. Could you tell me why? As far as I see I try to create a page similar to ones that already exist and belong to the same niche (https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q1937850). All the text were valid according to the entity. My only intent is to create and validate the entity. Will be waiting for your reply.

advice edit

Hey Wiki13,

I got the delete notice on a page I was working on, said due to notability. I was using Q64728315 as my template since they are also an online lender. The notability on that page is hidden by a pay wall and that's ok? Trying to learn about what is considered notable when some of the guidelines are up to purposely vague.

Deletion of Q100735089 edit

Hello,

after a lenghty discussion with admins about the notability of the entity Q100735089, which resulted in it being confirmed by admins, i just noticed the page was again deleted by you for the same "lack of notability" reasonment that should have been cleared with the first discussion (link to the discussion: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Wikidata:Administrators%27_noticeboard&oldid=prev&diff=1298335406, the paragraph is "Requesting the reversing of a deletion concerning non compliance of the notability policy"). Can i ask you what changed in 6 months?

Thank you in advance.
