WD has maybe 10 science classifications and many suffer from the problem you noted: that they group several distinct items under the same headings.
Some also repeat the same major branch of science (eg Biology) in several levels. So they are neither unique nor unambiguous.
BTW, the archived page you found https://web.archive.org/web/20211025213640/http://taxonomies.labs.crossref.org/?p=201 is a treasure trove of science classifications, eg https://web.archive.org/web/20211025213650/http://taxonomies.labs.crossref.org/?p=161 leads to https://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/PLOSTHES .
And its Mappings tab leads to 1000s more (though most are ontologies not thesauri). These Mappings could be useful to harvest. --Vladimir Alexiev (talk) 12:20, 13 February 2022 (UTC)
